Robyn should look at being done, they played better with Berg at the helm. I find it hard to beleive that she is the best we have available by then.

Players will be as resilient as you expect them to be and as weak as you allow them to be.

I don't look at Robyn that way. I think Robyn should retire when she feels like she wants to retire, she has earned that right.

Of course, if the USA setting situation demands that Robyn is still the starting setter, then there is something seriously wrong with our collegiate setter training. If she can do it, let her compete for a job, if she isn't good enough, cut her. But don't say she needs to retire, she doesn't need to do anything.

I said she should look at being done, not retire. She can play as long as she wants but there is no way she is the setter that leads them to a gold medal. I am assuming you watched the matches last summer and saw what everyone else saw in that Berg ignited the team when she came in and Robyn was sparatic when it counted. Play as long as you want Robyn. I just hope that we can develop someone to lead us to a Gold medal.

That's what they said about her making this year's team. Her problem this Olympic wasn't so much physical as tactical, JLP needed her to force middle when middles were our strength. Berg did that more often than Robyn did.

We're saying the same thing though, I don't think she can maintain the Olympic level for four more years, but its her right to try.

It was just a couple of months ago that half of this board said there was "no way" Berg should even be on the team! They said the USA would never medal if the setters were Ah Mow and Berg. It's crazy that people take what they see over a couple of weeks, and assume that things are always that way. Just a couple of weeks before the Olympics USA was playing better (marginally) with Robyn.

By the way, Ah Mow-Santos is 5 years younger than Fafao who just won her first gold medal. Fofao is 5 years younger than Kirillova who looked great when I saw her earlier this season (Russia may have considered using her had she been eligible).

It wouldn't surprise me if either Berg or Ah Mow-Santos or both get beat out by 2012. It also wouldn't surprise me if one of the two stuck around, but I wouldn't speculate as to which one will be the better player in three years.

ah-mow played more consisted in the olypics then berg IMO.

soooo berg ignited the team during that one match, but it was ah mow-santos who helped bring the team out of pool play and into the finals!

age is nothing but a number... believe me, if there were other players just as good OR even better than them, im sure they would have been playing - but obviously they're still doing an amazing job.

hawaii produces some TOP NOTCH setters hah. i think kanoe should try out for the olympic team. she's 10 times better than spicer & glass. for her size, girl can BLOCK.

Although I agree I hope we can develop someone new, don't count her out... A lot of people felt VERY strong about Lloy Ball needing to go this last Olympics given his previous performances, and he ended up playing pretty well.

I don't have any insider info, but I don't see Robyn playing in 2012. I think we'll probably have a couple better options.

Chicks change their minds every 15 seconds so I wouldn't give any credence to what you hear about 2012.
