On freshmen of influence in Penn State's non-revenue sports. I was pleasantly surprised by the recruits from Texas, California and Canada as well many other states. www.bluewhiteonline.com/entry.asp

That doesn't sound right.

I wonder if she had a growth spurt. She can really crush the ball in high school. Actually I think they should have her as a libero, but maybe the coach has a surprise for us.

She's amazing. She can do anything. Although she will likely play as a defensive specialist, she has lots of weapons, not the least of which is an amazing vertical for a shorter girl. She is incredibly versitile.

But I just don't see her as an OH in the Big Ten. Still she will be somewhere on the court, she's that good.

It's probably just a misprint by the BWI staff. To be honest I have my opinion of BWI is that they're a very so-so organization.
But at least they're trying to cover some stuff for smaller sports.

I'd call it bad reporting.

The way athletes are trained today you need to b prepared just in case!!

I say this with all due respect to Carpenter: She's not Angie Pressey.

I say this with all due respect to Carpenter: She's not Angie Pressey. Hmmm ... neither do I think Pressey is Carpenter. Sorry, can't resist ;D. You are certainly correct if you are saying that no unproven incoming freshman should be compared to an all-star who excelled during her college career. I was simply citing Pressey to say that a 5'8 OH is possible. Meanwhile, as a fan, I'll just believe in whatever Coach Rose "sells".

You could be correct that Coach Rose plans on using Carpenter both as a backup setter and as a backup OH , but the article says something different: it describes her only as an OH. If that's incorrect, and Coach Rose doesn't intend to use her at OH, then it's bad reporting. If Coach Rose does intend to use Carpenter at OH, then it's still bad reporting, because the article doesn't explain whether she also will be used as a back-up setter/defensive specialist, nor does it explain whether this is a recent development or whether, contrary to all published reports, she was recruited as an OH and not as a back-up setter/defensive specialist.
