I can live with this poll, though I think USC will eventually make its way solidly into the top 10....and Arizona will be a top 25 team
Kudos to Nebraska and Washington... last season Nebraska was preseason #7, they lost their best player and just add some freshmen and are preseason #3 last season Washington was preseason #9, they lost their best middle doesn't really gain anyone and are preseason #4 ....goes to show how far great coaching can get you!

I don't think Nebraska or Washington's current preseason ranking is a function of last year preseason ranking.

neither do I....my comment was a reflection to the fine coaching Cook and J-Mac did all last season to get to the preseason ranking this season.

I am quite surprised Wisconsin actually got some votes. I suspect that those that voted realized that Pete is a great coach and the program is well respected, and perhaps his team will over achieve this year. That is something I am counting on. Lots of talent and youth on this team.

im surprised that stanford isn't #4. not that it makes a big difference or anything. Given who they didn't lose, the UW seems likely to be the team to beat in the Pac10. But I suspect the road to the championship is going to go through the Bay Area one way or another. That's going to be a tough swing with Stanford and Cal.

I remember meeting Don Shaw once. I bugged him to no end that Cal generally wasn't competitive enough to put up a good fight with most teams he had to face the same weekend. It wasn't too long ago that WSU was the team that wasn't too happy because other teams didn't prepare much for UW.

I have never put much stock in the Volleyball Mag poll. But, that being said, my thoughts:
Too high: Hawaii, UCLA, Iowa State, Oregon, and Wichita State
Too low: Florida, USC, Illinois
