Chen Levitan Signs with Men's Volleyball
Veteran of the Israeli National Team expected to provide help on the outside.
July 20, 2009
Head Coach Al Scates announced the signing Monday of Chen Levitan, a veteran of the Israeli National Team.
A versatile hitter, Levitan, 6-4, 190, has played four years for the U-21 Israeli National Team, participating in the 2006 Junior European Championships and other tournaments in Italy, Ukraine and Croatia.
"Chen can play all three outside hitting positions and he also has a lot of international experience with various Israili National Teams," said Scates. "We have only seen him on videotape and are eager to coach him on our practice floor."
Levitan, 20, joined the Israeli Army in 2007 and is expected to be discharged in September following his mandatory two-year service.
An accomplished musician, Levitan once toured Los Angeles and Canada as the First Saxophonist for the Zichron Ya'akov Youth Band. He also competed in tournaments in Vienna and Eastern Europe as a soloist.
