Pool E on the men's side seems stacked...at least from what the teams looked like last year. Only team I've seen in that pool this year is Illinois B and we already know what kind of damage they can do.

Final from Iowa: Mizzou over Dupage, and Oshkosh B over Whitewater. Mizzou over Oshkosh in 3 with 3rd set going to extra points 15-17. Iowa was solid, but is not as good as Mizzou. Whitewater is still legit, but just don't play with any intensity.

Final confirmed registration counts for the competing Club National Tournaments. NCVF = 271 teams (24 less than 2009) ncvfvolleyball.org/RegisteredTeams.aspxNIRSA = 81, 36 men's teams 45 women's teams (i.e. the same size as the Las Vegas Open) Not sure how they are going to do divisional play with so few teams. 3 divisions of 12 each? www.nirsa.org/Content/NavigationMenu/Sports/Volleyball/2010_Team_Listing.htmI've never heard of Kutztown U or Creighton U in my life. Also, not confirmed, but from a good source that NIRSA is moving ahead with hosting a tournament again next year. The Dayton women (current NIRSA pres is located there) wanted to go to NCVF but is on the NIRSA list and the Dayton men also wanted to go to NCVF but they aren't on either list! Anybody know about them??? Good for Arizona men for sending their A team to NCVF and their B team to NIRSA trying for the sweep! I'm rooting for them just for the irony of it all!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am really hoping that NIRSA places Colorado School of the Mines and UC Merced in the same pool. That could be a real barn burner! The winner will have the inside track to the Championship. Seriously, NIRSA has got to be mortified by this. GAME, SET, MATCH to NCVF! Seriously...

Good WVC matchup tonight to finish the regular season. Whitewater travels to Lakeland, which could set a tone for either team going into this weekend's state championships (held at UWW).
Also Big 10 championships are this weekend. Wonder if Vegas would reshuffle if IL or Oshkosh failed to win their respective tournaments this weekend?
Va Tech and Mizzou: Any thoughts of trying to join MIVA to get more quality matches? Clearly your teams would be a good addition and could benefit from good showings not only at the MIVA championships each year, but also would probably get good momentum from playing in the subdivision play dates (MW10, GMMVC, etc). Is it a $$ thing?

Can't answer to the current Tech squad, but I know that when I played we would have loved to play teams other than JMU, Penn State, and Maryland. Seems like everywhere we went and the four of us were there, we were making up the semifinals.
I don't know how the MIVA works, but I think Ohio State is the closest to Blacksburg, and that's 6 hours. Definitely something to think about. Our funding was decent so it might be able to happen, but I don't think the guys would want to travel that far almost every weekend.

understandable that funding is always a limiter....good part about MIVA is that it is only played in 'playdate' format. So the teams from Big 10, MW10, GMMVC set up dates and play multiple matches, with a subdivision championship (MW10 was this past weekend) and then MIVA championship near the end of the season.
There is a decent price to be in the conference, but getting three different play dates and some major competition definitely is worth it if the ultimate goal is the best preparation for nationals every year, right?

Whitewater beat Lakeland in 5. It looked like Whitewater was going to win in 3 but Lakeland took game 3 and 4.

Utah valley did win the MWVC championships these results were sent in only after the upperbracket final and had not been finalized. Utah valley came back through the losers bracket to beat ASU. Sorry for the misunderstanding
