The video feed is great... it hasn't buffered once and besides the really annoying announcers, the ball has been easy to follow, which is a problem i notice with several other video feeds (outside UH and Nebraska). The badgers look really good tonight. I don't know how much of that is MSU not playing well, or the Badgers just playing out of their minds. Either way, it's nice to see. This definitely is not the same team I saw at the AVCA and not the same team that was video streamed at the last home tourney. I agree about the feed! But right now in game fourthree Wisconsin is not playing like a Top 15 team! Good to see Simpson playing again.

Well, good thing it didn't go four games, because the UW team I saw did play like a top 15 team for most of the match But I agree, there definitely was a drop-off in play in game three on the UW side. They started hot and then cooled off late. They only credited Dolgner with 3 kills in game one, but I swear I counted 5, 3 from the front row and 2 from the back. It will be interesting to see what the final box stats say after the match. Regardless, she had some impressive kills and the team hit really well overall. Simpson was on the money, especially on the slides and the team looked like an elite 8 squad. But then again, it was MSU and at home, so who knows... still early, but the Badgers have been impressive in big ten play so far.

Oh how I long for the days of Nikki Colson! I'm really not sold on Allison Ianni, and I haven't seen enough of the backup setter to form an opinion (although she was good setting the middles in high school). With Ianni being a senior, next season MSU will have had five different starting setters since 2003.
Wisconsin played very well. That said, I couldn't even enjoy the game because MSU was so off. MSU's defense has been below par these past two weekends- they've been giving away kills they would normally pick up in the back row.
MSU's stats are also off on the Wisconsin live-stats because Sarah Harris and Lisa Naymick never entered the game even though they are both credited with kills.
Oh well, Minnesota on Sunday.

Frick there wasn't any score on the feed so.... you know. Thanks for correcting me... YES I meant Game 3! They shouldn't have let State get that close.

This match was the best I have seen the Badgers play offensively this season by quite a bit. Simpson had a couple of sets to the middle that were too low, but got everyone involved in the offense in a lot of good situations. Michigan State's blocking was weak; they got most of their blocks in out of system plays. Otherwise, the Badgers mostly hit over them. Colaluca really made a lot of nice digs and covered the block well. If the Spartans had her 3-5 years ago, they would have been really good. Now, they really need some help on the block, because she gets a lot of attacks hit at her untouched.
The Badgers only outblocked the Spartans 10-6, but their block was much more of a factor in the match. They really contained Schatzle and Johnson, which isn't the easiest thing to do. To the Spartans' credit, they ran their quick stuff to the middle very well. Hohl had a lot of kills in the Spartan run late in the third game. I think the Badgers didn't play as well then as they did earlier, but you have to give the Spartans credit. They kept digging Wisconsin and the Badgers couldn't get out of a weak rotation. Ultimately, though, the Badgers got a couple of blocks and a couple of unforced hitting errors to win it.
I agree with wiscvb that the Badgers are looking better than they did earlier in the season. Jeffers looked more like she did last year; I wish the Badgers would go to her a little more. Carlini looked like she may have been a little sick, as Salow replaced her for a while in the third game in the front row and Mills played quite a bit of back row for her, but she played well offensively. Bladow also had a very nice match tonight, both offensively and on the block.
On the bad side, the Badgers made too many unforced errors to go along with all the good plays that they made. They had several net violations and didn't serve that well. Their passing was also inconsistent. Dolgner didn't have the best match, struggling at times passing and missing too many serves, even once when they had her serve without using the jumper. I hope she isn't suffering from the dreaded Odenthal disease of 2004.
All in all, I thought the Badgers looked pretty good tonight. They are a lot bigger at the net than MSU and made some nice plays defensively, although they do need to find a way to slow down the middle attacks. If they can cut down on the errors and Simpson runs the offense like she did tonight, the Badgers will be a strong team down the stretch.
