I wonder if the staff is close to giving Hagerty a shot?

Nope. They will not. LSU was #10. How far do you think they would fall? Santa Clara was #12. Again, how far? Wow... Hawaii with a win tonight could move as far up as #11. I think that carries Cal Poly with them. I believe that Hawaii is playing that type of ball right now, also, so I don't see a problem with them moving up. They really are improving. Regarding Minnesota, their 'bad' losses were during the suspensions of key players, I think that the streak and those suspensions should be considered. Minn needs to stay consistent in the Big Ten... but they also have to knock off Wisconsin or Ohio State again to move up. Wisconsin is really hurting the Big Ten power ratings. Their best win is over who? Michigan? San Diego? Oklahoma? Purdue is too silent.... meaning their non-conference schedule doesn't prove much to voters. Ohio State and Michigan were good wins for them, but they've not yet hit the meaty part of the big ten schedule. I think it can happen for Minnesota... as long as they play like they have been.

Not too good of a day for Kyla... it's truly a sign of an improved team when the Gophers can have other players step in when someone has a bad match, and still come out with the win. Unlike last season, when it seemed that when one player was down - it brough the entire team down.
Way to go Kelly... great job bringing back the offense today!

Assuming this was 30-27, this sets up the Purdue-Minnesota match this weekend for 2nd place, with Wisconsin getting first crack at the Boils. Well, you certainly wouldn't be able to figure that out by looking at the Big Ten conference standings. The crackerjacks that maintain that site have Minnesota at 4-0 right now, with Wisconsin at 5-1. Veeeeeeery impressive!! As (R) has said, they don't make it easy! The Big 10 site was nicely goofed up after yesterday's matches. Some of the team's records hadn't been updated even as of like 2 am and the results of the Wisconsin / Ohio State match were reversed with Ohio State listed as being 2-3 in conference. They do usually correct it within a couple of days though.

I wonder if the staff is close to giving Hagerty a shot? I don't see that happening, unless both Katie V and Meghan are both way off on the same night.

You remain insane on this issue, Ruffda. Several of those 11-20 teams are ripe for losses and Ohio, Cal Poly and San Diego are ALL leapfroggable. Not this week, but just watch.

If this is true, she should be redshirting. So I don't think it's true...

And look at Rachel's stats. She had a very good match today. And watching her on TV today, she did a nice job against Penn State. She was very poised and aggressive at the net, even with that bad hand. She did a great job bouncing back on the road with her injury.

Insane? Well, _that's_ a little strong.
The advantage the Gophers have is that the Big10 teams most likely to beat them are all ranked ahead of them.
But you keep watching...

I'm assuming the Minnesota-OSU match has not started yet because the title says "Pregame."

I wonder if the staff is close to giving Hagerty a shot? I don't see that happening, unless both Katie V and Meghan are both way off on the same night. Not sure about that. They need to get more offense out of their left sides. Statistically, none of the lefts had a very good weekend. Most of the offense comes from the middle and right side. If KBow is off or taken out of the offense such as she was Friday night, it can mean for some very long nights. Someone has to step up there and be a force.

So where does this put Minn after this weekend? Back home for their only 3-match homestand of the Big10 season. Poll wise? They'll move past Pepperdine for sure. But that'll probably be it. OSU will still be above them, even without the Wisky win. Which would give MN 2 wins over teams ranked ahead of them - Cal Poly and OSU. And, technically Michigan since MI was ranked ahead of MN at the time. 3 of their 5 losses were to teams currently ranked in the Top 10. The TAMU and Louiseville losses hurt. The next 10 days are huge given the Purdue match on Saturday and WI on the following Wednesday.

Funniest thing at the match (and it happened very early) was after about 3 or 4 successive referees' calls that displeased the Gopher coaching staff, it resulted in Mike Hebert standing up and waving a white towel. Guess it got the officials' attention--the calls were bearable for both sides after that. ;D
