Seriously, why are people wasting votes in the polls on this team?
They are a Big East team (I had to look it up) who has one loss to USC (a 3-0 spankin').
Their RKPI is 23, but we know the principles of the RPI are lame, so whatever.
Their best wins are over:
Louisville Cincinnati Pittsburgh South Carolina (in 5) Florida State Fairfield
They do end the year with LSU and Florida, and they have a match relatively soon against Notre Dame. What do they have that I don't see?
Pablo has them at 42. For some reason, Rich Kern has Lousiville, who St Johns beat at 32 and St. Johns at 33.
Anybody to their defense? Is it the well, we gotta vote for a Big East team, so let's get them?

What I'd like to know is if anyone has any info on Hui Ping Huang, their all everything OH from China. I saw on another board she is 26 years old. She's listed as a sophomore. Is that true and if so, how is it possible she's only a sophomore and eligible? This is ridiculous if that is the case.

Hawaii?
Seriously, why are people wasting top 15 votes in the polls on this team?
They are a WAC team who has five losses to USC (a 3-0 spankin'), UCLA (a 3-0 spankin'), Stanford (a 3-0 spankin'), Cal Poly and New Mexico State.
Their RKPI is 19, but we know the principles of the RPI are lame, so whatever.
Their best wins are over:
Pepperdine (squeakers at home) Colorado (at home) Cal Poly (squeaker at home) Northwestern (at home) San Jose State (WOW - away) Nevada (at home)
They do have New Mexico State (maybe a couple of times) towards the end, and they have a couple of matches relatively soon against Notre Dame. What do they have that I don't see?
Pablo has them at 23. For some reason, Rich Kern has Cal Poly who beat Hawaii at 22 and Hawaii at 11.
Anybody to their defense? Is it the well, we gotta give one high vote for a WAC team, so let's get them?
So, in defense of St. John's, I do think they deserve recognition for the best season they have had in years maybe more so than other teams deserve higher ranking than they should probably be at.

you guys on this board are so stuck in your ways that when a team that isn't one of the 30 or so teams that usually appears in the rankings you all get upset and throw out reasons why they shouldnt be ranked.
they deserve it, and its not like they are #5 in the nation...they arent even in the top 20 yet. relax.

Incidentally, St. John's has a Hawaii connection with OH Patti Hardimon.
I remember watching her play for Chaminade a couple years ago when they upset HPU. I was impressed because at that time she was at MB and only 5'8".
She's also from Hawaii.

Hawai'i never played USC. And fwiw.... Teams don't deserve recognition just because they have had "the best season they have had in years." That comment takes the cake for being the most ridiculous comment on VT today.

Hawaii? And fwiw.... Teams don't deserve recognition just because they have had "the best season they have had in years." True. They deserve recognition because they are 21-1 with their only loss coming to USC, with quality wins (check the opponents records) over Florida St, South Carolina, Cincy and Louisville. If a few coaches think they are top 25 quality, don't hold it against them....have you seen em play? I haven't, so I can't pass judgement, but they have won a butt load of matches!

I am indifferent to St John's. I don't know enough about them to make a determination. My remarks were addressing Husker's comments, and I stand by them. Fwiw, IB made no mention of Hawai'i so there was little reason for Husker to make such an idiotic comparison.
Hawai'i never played USC.
Ouch, now that must have hurt heh, husker? No Hawaii did not lose 3-0 to USC, it was just some SEC team that flew out to Hawaii to kick 'em 3-0. I would pick St Johns over Hawaii right now.

St. John's over Fairfield, 3-0 (30-21, 30-25, 30-20); 66 points scored by Fairfield.
