It will be interesting to see how Purdue performs tonight. It could be that we are seeing the difficulty teams will have preparing for MN and WI in the same weekend. Not as easy to prepare when WI is matched with NW and MN with IA. That's a really good point and one that I had forgotten about.

This can happen in the top conferences. Wisconsin after losing both last weekend, was in a must win situation if they had any designs of finishing in the top 2. Purdue cruisin right along, a few young players and than WHAM! Hopefully, lesson learned.

Wisconsin also played with a few young players... both outsides were true freshmen, and they delivered for the Badgers. Dolgner and DuPont combined for 29 kills and hit .426. Jeffers, a sophomore, added 12 and hit over .500%. The only player who played poorly was Bladow, a senior, who had 1k and 5 errors. Seeing the true freshman have a nice impact on the outside bodes well for future seasons.
It will be interesting to see how Purdue responds to the loss against Minnesota tonight. As well as the Badgers played last night, Purdue definitely didn't do themselves any favors with their passing and serving - they passed an extraordinarily high amount of very tight and high passes - not a recipe for success when you run a 6-2 with shorter setters. It caused a lot of forced sets to the middles that were off.
I'm still bitter about the Badgers dropping that match to OSU on the road - even more after seeing Illinois spank the Bucks last night.

I hear you, wiscvball....it's becoming apparent that OSU is just a middle of the road conference team, and the Badgers let them off the hook in Columbus. I hated to see that happen. I hope they learned somerthing from that loss, when you have a team down, you need to put them away. They did that last night.
