Wow, big drop for Washington. Guess Pablo didn't like the close scores, even though UW swept WSU.

but did pablo not like Wazzu taking a game off of both UCLA and USC as well?
anyways, I'm not worried, uw has usc and ucla at home, and I think washington matches up well with stanford. I don't think Stanford's 'modified' version of swing blocking (where they leave the rs/s and oh stationed on washington oh hitters can stop our middles or a Mussie/Morrison pipe much at all.
of course, this was judging by the first match. things have changed...

Washington didn't drop at all. In fact, their rating went up 10 points, relative to the top (they maintained ground with Penn St, IOW)
The other teams just went up. UCLA, Wisconsin, and Florida all had more dominating wins over top 20 teams, whereas Wash/WSU and PSU/Illinois were closer but against weaker competition.
The only surprise to me is Texas. I don't know why they jumped so much.
But the rest can be explained by 110 point changes. That's not a lot of difference.

Yes, indeed things have changed. Stanford's libero is playing MUCH better now. She was awful in the match vs UW, she played great vs USC and UCLA. The other players have all really stepped up their play as well. Washington, on the other hand, seems to have "peaked". There doesn't seem to be the continuing improvement from match to match that we've seen in McLaughlin's teams in the past. I hope I'm mistake about that, and they start showing improvement in their play being carried over from well-learned practices once again.

Just curious: you haven't incorporated that game-score weighting that was discussed, have you?

Not in D1 YET. However, I do run it every week, and so far the ChipNDink version has outperformed the old version in every week but 1, and leads overall by 0.5% (82.7% to 82.2%). I'm about ready to make the switch. I should note that translates into about 2 matches/week nationwide
I have been using the weighted version for the D2, D3, and NAIA rankings.

Potential? At least that is what I read about on VT - if Texas ever get's it together they can't be beat.
