To prepare for the NCAAs, because that was a match of that level? That looks like the ball used in the tournament, if memory serves.

What stands out most is that somewhere in the last month Destinee Hooker has been learning to block. She had 3 solos and 2 assists today. Yes she still doesn't penetrate enough and gets used a lot, but there's an obvious improvement since the AVCA showcase. Anyone remember this play from wednesday night? I wonder who is that poor left-handed girl getting stuffed.... I do remember that play.....I also remember this: Austin, Texas – Sarah Pavan totaled a team-high 22 kills, including six in the decisive fifth game, as No. 1 Nebraska overcame a 2-1 deficit to top No. 9 Texas, 27-30, 30-22, 22-30, 30-22, 15-13 Wednesday night at Gregory GymnasiumThanks lilred you saved me the trouble!

Hooker's blocking may have improved a lot from Wed to today but she didn't look good blocking against Nebr. In a 5 game match, you happen to find a picture of the single block she had all night. Granted, her presence truly might of had something to do with all of Pavans hitting errors but she got used and abused most of the night blocking. Now Hitting is a completely different story.

I must have hexed my Bears. They have found every way to lose by 2 points. Last night the offense was really good but Iowa State digs 60 to the Bears 45. We looked like the best defensive team I've ever saw at Baylor in the first month but now they can't dig a ball to save thier lifes. Hurry up Sarah Grace.

Any chance you read my post? I quite clearly said that her blocking still needs a lot of work and that she gets used a lot. Your inclusion of that information in your post, as an imitation of mine, is sincerely flattering. Now I feel warm and fuzzy all over even though it's under 40 degrees outside. To add to your other comment, it is interesting that Pavan's hitting percentage was much much higher in the 5th game when Jerritt for some reason back-rotated his players which meant Destinee was off the court most of the game.

What happened to KSU? I know the Big 12 is really balanced except for Nebraska at the top, but they used to be top 25 every year. Also, I think it is clear that OU can play; I thought they were good scrappy after seeing the video of them playing Wisconsin, and they have shown that to be the case. I am glad to see that Iowa State won; I want Christy to get her team into the NCAAs. I know Bearwatch will be bummed, but Baylor is pretty young and will get better. This is my opinion but I think Creighton has really hurt KSU's Nebraska pipeline. There used to be 5-6 Nebraska players on their roster. I'm not sure there are any. I don't know if that's Suzie's choice or not. The majority of strong Nebraska HS players that used to leave the state if NU didn't want them are staying home. UNO and UNK being strong D2 programs also are benefiting from this!!

To both Pavan962 and lilred, in response to 2c's kindness I have decided to "pay it forward" and flatter you both by imitating your post: I do remember Sarah Pavan's attack stats line.....I also remember this: Destinee Hooker paced the Longhorns' and outpaced the Huskers' attack on the night with a career-high 24 kills on .538 hitting, including four kills and a 1.000 attack mark in the fifth and deciding game.

The match was intense. 3856 in the stands. Hooker had a monster night for Texas and Pavan played like she usually does, although I think her errors were higher than usual. Larson and Engle had below average nights in hitting %. Stalls and Todd played well. Acevedo looks banged up to me, she isn't moving well at all.

Yeah, if you watched her walk back to the service line, you could see a hitch in her step. Her defense in matches I've seen this year doesn't seem as good as last year. I wonder if she's having pain when moving to the ball.

And yet Texas still lost. On a more congenial note, you said that Elliot changed his rotation? Why would he do that I wonder? Any thoughts. Because honestly I was praying like hell that Nebraska would run off some points before Hooker got back to the front row. The only thing I can think of is that he was pretty certain the match would be ultra tight and was betting he could get Hooker back in the front row for the homestretch to put the match away? Also I thought Acevedo looked a bit tired and worn too. During one of the latter match time outs they showed a shot of her and she was as stone faced as they come. Couldn't really tell if that was a look of concentration, irritation, or tiredness. And unlike many posters I won't presume to know specifically since I don't know her overall personality. I just would have thought she would have been more into it given how tight the match was and the atmosphere.

If I'm not mistaken Hooker rotated back in the front row at like 12-12, or 11-11 in game 5(cause I was thinking Nebr was done when she came back in)?? To me a perfect time for your big gun to be in the front row and not on the bench??? That wasn't the first time she was in was it?? That's the part I cannot remember.
