I just finished watching USC v Arizona, and was thinking USC could try shifting their line up to avoid getting stuck in bad rotations. Kaczor and Copenhagen are our best two hitters and I would like them to play opposite of each other. Therefore, I would move Gysin to OPP. I think she would do better focusing on passing and defense, and serving more as a utility player. She's quick, so she can hit some nice combo plays from either the RS or middle. USC utilizing Kaczor as an OPP is a very international approach since she can be used as hitter in all her rotations, but USC seems to struggle the most when they are out of system, so I think USC needs to clean up their hitting from the LS first and foremost. I also think they need to speed up their offense a bit. I don't mean setting shoots, but I'd like Carico to bring her sets down by a 3 or 4 feet. Opposing teams always seem to get solid double blocks against SC's hitters even when we're setting a slide play. In the last few years, USC has been known to set moon balls to the outside (perhaps because it's lower risk), but the Trojans are getting blocked so much they might as well make some changes. Anyhow, just thought this might be an interesting thread. This isn't meant to be a slam on the coach staffs, but I wanted to hear what you guys would adjust with your respective teams.

Haley does have the option of using Kaczor as a pure OH as that is her natural position (at JC as well with her national team training). She is also hitting from the left on the first offensive plays before scooting to the rightside to block and hit on subsequent plays. But Haley is using Kaczor as the Opp to get a bigger block on opposing OHs plus he needs Gysin's passing. Though Kaczor does serve receive on 1 passing rotation (left back, freeing Copenhagen and allowing USC to run combo plays involving Copenhagen, MB2 and Kaczor), her passing is not better than Copenhagen's and Gysin's. Also, Kaczor is very comfortable in hitting from the rightside, both at the pin and the D attacks. She provides an important outlet for attacks from the pipes and the D. Gysin, from what I've seen, is not to comfortable hitting from the right, and though I've not seen her hitting the D yet, I think that using Gysin as the Opp would make USC weaker on the rightside attacks. Regarding the OHs, I think one of the problems is they tend to hit the balls at low points of contact, going for the seam shots. Gysin, I think, is jumping at a lower height than she was in her freshman year (in between the ankle injuries). Copenhagen is not your jump-out-of-the-gym player either. So, faster sets to them might allow Gysin and Copenhagen to beat the blocks. What I really like to see is the MBs being used more extensively. I found that Johansen is playing tired, and her slides were pretty slow (it was like watching in slow motion). Keen competition at MB2 have improved Bishop, and she is now hitting with more confidence and efficiency. Maybe Haley could mix things up with switching Johansen to MB2 and tring out Bishop or Tennant as MB1.

For Stanford, would like to see some more snap in Foluke's hitting. She powers over the block, but the ball needs a better trajectory. Would also like to see some development on the right side. Waller is improving, but would like to see her become more of an offensive threat.

Florida-
If you asked me a few weeks ago, I'd have said the experiment with Kisya on the outside wasn't working. Lately, it seems the light has come on and she is really fitting into her role nicely and as such, the lineup seems settled and comfortable. There are 6 true offensive weapons who can all get kills. If that keeps up, this team will be hard to defend. Kisya was making a lot of unforced errors, but she has really cut those way down. What we're seeing is this team be very very patient, because they know they are a solid blocking team but one of the best digging teams. You really don't like to have too many free balls or tips sent over that the other team can easily pick up, but at the same time, with your great defense, you don't have to try to force kills off bad sets where you end up making errors. The longer the rally, the more it favors the Gators. A few weeks ago, my other change would've been to have Rhian Davis stop serving, but she's improved tremendously the last few weeks. You hope your team will improve as the year goes on and that come December, they will be playing their best ball. I think Florida is doing just that. Right now, I wouldn't change anything.

Said Cook: “It’s time to start really playing with a mentality that you’re playing each point working towards huge goals at the end.”

Hawai'i... 1) Start thinking about what kind of leis you want to give to Kanoe, Cayley, and Sarah on senior night. 2) Well there's always next year.

Wisconsin: a miracle back cure for Jeffers and foot cure for Carlini so they could be one hundred percent and avoid more than normal pain levels. Otherwise, I just want them to keep playing to their potential and see how far it will take them. They are really playing well as a team.

I'd like Ashley and Tiffany to stop feuding with each other and stop being so disruptive in practice.
I'd also like the team to keep the noise down on the bus rides to away matches.
