Too early to nominate USC's Kaczor? She is the top international player in the Pac-10.

No, she's good but she's very inconsistant. She played like CRAP against Washington in Seattle...I was very upset with how she played...though Kelli Tennant is very beautiful...!

A vote for Thompson at Washington. She's taken her team to Regional final, final four, and championship in three years, then who knows where this year. Hosting a regional means probably a Final Four again for the Huskies. Award is for this year, but no dominant team so far. She plays her position as well as anybody plays their own.

POY is about this season, not someones career. Although I love Court's game, I would have to go with Meriwewther. She is haveing an incredible season.

Also, POY is about season THROUGH post-season. POY's are not going to win unless their team does something significant with them leading it.
You can build the ballots, but too early to tell this year, with NOONE standing above everyone else.

Meriwether would be my second choice, although I haven't seen anybody west of Phoenix. You're right about this year, but my point is there is little to choose from before playoffs start. Both are leaders and years are about even now. Probably somebody from Nebraska will win again, meaning Pavan, and who's to say that's a wrong choice?

Carico is having a better year than Courtney Thompson
Going by what I think the voters will do. I give my vote to Pavan.

Also, when is timing? Idaho Boy says through end of year, but All Americans awarded and presented at finals, so votes have to go in soon after regular season overr. I suppose POY could be separate vote/award.

I think voters will pick Pavan as well, although I have different choices myself.

Seems Kerri Walsh's Sr year co-POY with Lauren Caciammani was more about her career than her Sr year. (She should have won POY her Freshman year.) I just think coaches couldn't fathom she could go without winning POY during her career since she was one of the greatest players in NCAA history. Just not sure she had the stats her Senior year to earn it based solely on those numbers.

POY IS a separate vote, from AA candidates.

Too early to nominate USC's Kaczor? She is the top international player in the Pac-10. Asia had a great weekend in the bay. Lit Stanford for 26 kills (.500) and Cal for 23 kills (.326). She really improved her stock for Pac 10 POY while Barboza's dropped after two bad matches. Nana should be the current favorite though for Pac 10 POY. Potential candidates, no particular order; Nana, Pavan, Nicole Fawcett, Courtney Thompson, Christal Morrison, Asia and Cynthia Barboza. I've seen each play in person this season, Pavan would get my vote at this point in time.

Carico is having a better year than Courtney Thompson How, exactly, is that? Certainly not in any stat, pac10 win percentage, or team hitting percentage...

She was an incredible player her freshman year, but Angelica Ljungquist was the clear favorite that year for national POY. She had some shoulder problems her sophomore year but still made First Team All-American. Anyway....not to get off the topic, but I think Pavan will be national POY.
