is that agood thing? I don't really know those two. I almsot went to the game just to try to meet them 2 weird Gopher fans. I think they were 0 for lifetime when both attended a MN/WI match in Madison.

Seriously folks. Hats off to the gophers as the better prepared team tonight and the season sweep. Hope the Badgers get back on track for the tournament.

We can balme the whole mess on them now! They shoudl stay home next year. There will be no living with them now. They will be strutting their stuff taking credit for the win. Really though. The Gophers dominate games 1 and 2. I'm getting to watch the match on the WI website. I mention (R)uffda! and Gorf in a post and the webcast goes down. And the Gophers fall apart in G3. Don't underestimate the damage this duo can do!

I think the Gophers are in big trouble tonight. No way they can win in the Field House. *cough*

Great match by the Gophers... and a serious poor showing of leadership by the Badger upperclassmen. Carlini, Bladow, and Reineke all hit negative... at home... are you serious? We wouldn't beat Northwestern or Illinois with a night like that, much less beat a much more talented team in Minnesota.
And blocking? Yuck. 4.5. in 4 games. Puke. Reineke needs to get her head in the match when she plays Minnesota next year - she was a complete non-factor both times we played the Gophers. Yet she can hit over .340 and block almost 1.9 per game against the rest of the big ten... puke again.
Glad to see Dolgner play better against the Gophers... all around good match from her until the last few points... she looked like a first team all big ten player tonight.
Again, congrats to the Gophers... i still hope PSU drops a match this weekend and Minnesota can share the conference title. Hell, if PSU drops a match this weekend, Minnesota might be ranked ahead of them without ever beating them this season.

Yeah, Highlander, aren't you also the one who said there was "no way" Minnesota could beat Penn State in that match they just lost by two points in the fifth? Anyway, thanks, JHAM, and everyone for cheering for the Gophers tonight. I wish I could have been there. And, congrats, Wisconsin for attracting such a nice Wednesday-night crowd (about a thousand more than came to the Wednesday match up here.)

Oh, wait, no, Highlander was the one who predicted a sweep for Wisconsin when they were in Minneapolis. Anyway...

lions got it right, however.
A couple of points:
*UW was trying to serve that long float serve. They were missing long in games 1 and 2. It was really effective in game 3. Good strategy. So-so execution.
*Kyla struggles out-of-system. That was the problem again tonight. But you have to love that block -- on the left and right.
*Simpson was called for a lot of BHEs when the ball was right on top of the net (and she was back row). I thought she was the least of UW's problems.
*Kinda nasty band. What was up with that??
*I think Meghan ran out of steam again. She's being asked to bring a lot to these matches. They go longer than 3 games and she starts to lose her effectiveness.
*Not meeting Gorf and me was probably one of the better things about your day.
*We ate at Lucky's with VBCoach.
Must sleep.

I'm shocked that the Gophers pulled this win out. I will eat humble pie.

*Kinda nasty band. What was up with that?? I think it was a combination of things. The WI band is always loud, of course. We were louder than normal with our cheer after winning a point (and I realize that some people don't appreciate the simple elegance of "Point U!"). Wisconsin had some sort of deal where they let students in for free -- the Block Party end zone had a lot of students, and that probably made some of them willing to be a bit rowdier. It's also possible that they were trying to cheer for us, but had us confused with the Minnesota University of Simple Tools and Fasteners (MUSTF). When they were saying "Screw U!" they were trying to help out with the cheer... they just need to study up on which teams are playing! Mrs JT noticed that after game two, a few of the Fieldhouse security folk decided to sit in section H between the Gopher fans and the students/band... and things quieted down again. Several of us tried to kick Gorf, (R)uffda, Sven, and Olaf out after game two. Gorf was an immovable object, and (R)uffda gave us the slip, so might have snuck back inside after we chased him out. You know, it's possible that VBCoach has a positive effect on Minnesota at Wisconsin, which overrides the Ruffda/Gorf jinx.

They were just generally abusive to players and Minnesota fans. Seemed odd, since I assumed they'd be supervised -- it being a band and all. It just didn't seem to be in good humor at all.
No big deal. Just an observation. Just like Waite whining too much (although the refs were not very good, I'll admit).
