Did anyone else read the thread title and think, "Oh, no, what happened to Courtney?!?"? I did. I thought Tamari set a match or something. Tamari is a very gifted player. She has great court awareness and has been around the game all her life. It's pretty neat to see a Hawaii player leave the islands and have success in a tough Pac-10 league.

She's having a wonderful experience in the Pac 10 conf and she'll only get better.

Will she be setting next year after Courtney leaves? The hope is that she'll stay libero. We have a great setter coming in - Jenna Hagglund - and if she can contribute right away, I think the optimal thing to do for the team is to keep Tama at libero. Jim has stated that if Courtney were to go down, he has "total confidence" in Tama's ability to set the team. Last season, Courtney said that Tama would eventually be a better setter than herself (or something along those lines), that's how good se his. Currently, when Courtney digs a ball, she'll pass to Tama in the backrow, and then Tama sets a perfect ball for the pipe or OH, it's nice to not have the MB set this year, that's one advantage this team has over last years team, we have two setters out there. Sometimes, even when there is a pass to about the 3m line, Courtney wont even pursue it and just lets Tama set.
