Second that! Congrats to Christy Johnson. When's the last time Iowa State won an NCAA tourney game? 1995 vs. Idaho in Ames (first round) -- the last time (only other time, actually) they made the Show. The second-round match that year was a loss at Notre Dame.

The second-round match that year was a loss at Notre Dame. That one SHOULD have been IN Idaho... I'm still bitter about that one. We were ranked top 25 and playing a solid schedule. We were also top 20 attendance... sheesh.

Yes, it could easily have been more like 30-5 but ISU made some unforced errors. Well, 30-10 stands as the biggest single-game margin so far in the tournament. Gotta hang my hat on something, right? ;D

It was just an awful match for UWM. Their passing was bad, their setter really struggled, and they made a lot of errors. Thus, the lopsided scores. Iowa State played really well defensively. Their block was very strong, and their libero made a lot of plays. They got a lot from their middles. Boeve is good on the quick attacks in the middle, but I think she needs to be able to hit behind the setter. I don't think she did today. Still, it was a good performance from the Cyclones and just an ugly one for the Panthers. I thought UWM had a chance to win coming in, since there wasn't a huge gap in size/athleticism between the teams, but the Cyclones just dominated after about 10-10 in the first game.
