Didn't some of you get sufficient revenge in the Nebraska/Stanford thread, or do you need to contaminate every thread with the same tripe before you are ready to give it a rest? FWIW: I was cheering for Stanford in the 2001 championships. I became a big Robyn Lewis fan earlier that year after talking to Mo Batie and having him mention how good he thought she was as a setter. Once she returned to the Cardinal's starting lineup late in the season she made a big difference to their team's level of play - especially at the Final Four. The least touted setter at the Final Four that year and she played better in those matches than any of the other setters.

So Nebraska will have one defensive player on the roster next year? They won the national championship with only two this year, so Cook won't likely make a change.

How about Utah? Anyone think they can sneak in the top 5? I think USC has potential to ranked highly. There libero doesn't need to be that good considering Carico only sets the outsides anyway!

I'm hoping USC improves next season even tho they lose their best player in Seilhamer. USC brings in a big recruiting class in which they should finally be able to start a strong MB. And hopefully Roleder can improve the outside hitting position since USC's outsides often struggle. Nebraska could be even stronger next season w/ Houghtelling, but their libero better be top notch. I was really impressed by Dani Busboom. She passed pretty perfectly. She looked way better than the 3 other liberos in the Final Four. Heck she could have been the best libero in the nation (behind Seilhamer. heh) Stanford will replace the hell out of Fishburn next season. I think "Serve Fishburn" T-shirts would have sold out at the Coliseum this year.

Maybe it was a small sample size, but Zoe Garrett didn't impress me that much at the CIF Championships. I would have expected her to dominate against a small lineup. Maybe I was just expecting more because of her size. Also, I can't think of the female equivalent term, but for for men I guess the term is "manchild". She's physically a large girl, but if all you saw was her face, you'd swear she's in junior high.

I'm curious to see how Nebraska works out next year, since we'll be able to figure out if Busboom was a great libero, or if Busboom being a great libero was a result of the Husker block. Stanford- Erin Waller, we see ya. Kehoe, Akinradewo, and Barboza will learn from the loss. But the biggest question will be if anyone can shore up the backrow play. If Lichtman and Ailes are solid- then Stanford should see itself in the national championship again. I also wonder about the Janet Okogbaa experiment... Penn State and Texas- Loaded and almost look like mirror images of one another. Fawcett and Faucette, Hooker and Hodge, Magee/ Doris and Harmotto/ Walbridge, but Texas has Engle. And if both teams figured out how to efficiently utilize a 6-2...lethal. Gonna say that USC will be scary next year. A top OH (Roleder) and MB (Garrett) will make the Asia Kaczor show deadly. If Urango can play libero, losing Seilhamer won't hurt as much.

For USC, I can see Roleder and Copenhagen on the OH, Asia as the OPP, and Gysin playing libero. Not sure Garrett or Williams are strong enough to start right away.

I agree that if Urango (or Hilgren) can be solid at libero, and if Roleder and Garrett become factors, that will outweigh the loss of Seilhamer. Busboom was a terrific libero. The Husker block helped her out in digging but it was her passing that was superb in their championship run. I think liberos should be looked at first and foremost for their passing ability.

1. Nebraska- Only definite loss is Busboom, which will hurt the defense, but the offense will be absolutley stacked with Holloway setting Pavan, Larson, and Houghtelling. Mancuso is a loss too imo, she really stepped up at times when Nebraska needed it. Schwartz is listed as Libero, although she didn't get as much court time this year with Busboom out there. I wonder if she'll step up to that roll with Dani gone. If she can with the movement she puts on the ball when she serves.. ooph.
