I didn't say the "margin of victory" wil never change more than one point. I said the margin between the current rally score and current sideout score is not changed by more than one. The margin of victory will obviously be different because the game will end after a different amount of play. Check the play ny play of various matches and you'll find numerous occasions where the difference between the two scoring systems is actually 2 points. Could you outline a hypothetical situation where this would be the case? As for late game comebacks, you cant compare down by by 4 against 28-29 to down by 4 against 13-14. A similar situation to down by 4 against 13-14 is down by 4 against 25-27 or something like that

I'd have to find an convert games again. It's possible that I made conversions errors. (My editor (R)uffda! wasn't around to proofread for me.) You can compare it because it is something that has been altered as a result of the change to rally scoring and it is one of the fundamental differences between the two scoring systems. Late game rallies are simply more difficult under rally scoring than they were under sideout scoring. Your analogy is basically saying that there was nothing in sideout scoring that was equivalent to making the attempt to make a comeback under rally scoring when down by 4+ and the opponent is at 28-29. It isn't impossible to achieve, it's simply much more difficult.

Sideout vs Rally.........time to move on. Sure, feel free to move on. Those of us who care about the game and the destructive curse of rally scoring will continue to fight the good fight.

Us old school beach (or sand) ball players don't use rally scoring and we don't allow let serves. Long ago we recognized the value of "earning" a point the hard way.

Sideout vs Rally... tough call for myself. I play sideout in sand (can't play court because of toe the dislocates all the time). But can see where more positions and utilities being able to score can be good (get a great block to get the serve but no point for the attack), but can also see where the problems of getting points for nothing or errors seems bad in the same vein.
