Good thread for a very skilled player.
Scott Bishop moved up to 16's this year. He was coaching 14's for the past several years.
Daryl Kapis was coaching 16's last year.
Tarah played 14's for Sara Waltman- 7th grade
15's for Emerson Salonga- 8th grade
16's for Shelby Salonga- Frosh
18's for the Salonga's- Soph
18's for the Salonga's- Junior (this year)

Good thread for a very skilled player. Scott Bishop moved up to 16's this year. He was coaching 14's for the past several years. After the first time I saw Tarah play, I mentioned her name to someone I know who is fairly close to Scott Bishop. That person said that Scott would be coaching her 16s team that season, although I never really followed up. Now that I think about it, I saw one of the (younger) GB teams once at Cal, and I asked which team (of course they answered "Golden Bear") and who their coach was. It was one of the 14s coached by Scott Bishop. I guess I'm guilty of letting this devolve into a narrative about Golden Bear and the big players in East Bay HS/club volleyball. BTW - Scott isn't angry in this picture. His team just scored three points in a row and he was so fired up that he jumped out of his seat. And yes - the "C" did peel off of the back of the #10 jersey.

yes we do think that foto is funny for a couple reasons. The 'ampo' on the back of KC Eames jersey, as she was one of the nice hitters at the State Tourney and she had plenty of 'amp' during Game 5 which I think this was...and that Scott actually shot out of his chair, he tends to be a sitting somewhat quiet coach....there is another foto of this same moment on Max Preps I think, where the Campo bench players are just grinning at Scott...and of course his action got a huge response from the fans across the floor in the stands...and it built in the final minutes as Campo won the title. Prime moments. Inside he is a tornado of drive and determination and focus but he can generally manage to sit. His asst coach paces so much he mostly ends up pacing up and down behind the player's bench..Mike Gee. They are a great pair of coaches...and are coaching the GB 16's this year along with asst Caity Noonan (former Cal player) with her own high level of coaching and determination ....Big Big things are possible for this 16's club team....as well as Tarah's 18 Forefront club team.

Well - I have an earlier (as in a few weeks) picture of KC Eames's jersey where the "C" on the back is noticeably hanging there sort of halfway peeled off. Also - they were down 23-20 and tied it up only to lose the game 25-23. Still - that moment was priceless, as I rarely see Scott that visibly fired up. At the point I took the photo, he had just jumped out of his seat with his mouth wide open, and by the time he landed, he was grinning from ear to ear. ;D

I'm really anxious to see what happens with Janet Okagbaa next year. Okagbaa might hit the ball harder than Klineman, but lacks the overall game that Alix has. But does anyone think that Okagbaa has much of a future at Stanford with Waller playing so well? And everytime I saw her on the bench this year, she looked so out of it and looked as if she didn't want to be there. When Janet did get into a late-season match at outside hitter, she looked like a much better player than I'd seen before... not tentative at all. It may be hard for her to crack the starting lineup, no matter what... but she looked as if she can play.

Back to Murrey a little. I would assume that Stanford has to be an appealing choice to any player who gets the chance. Still, I wonder what they would do her freshman year. Unless one of them moves to the right, how do you find time for Kleinman, Barboza, and Murrey? Will she want to sit for most of a year?

Would a player of that caliber want to go to a school who already has those players just to anticipate to sit?

(Barboza, Klineman, and Murrey) what an impressive 1 2 3 punch.

Any player with Tarah's talent probably believes (correctly) that she can outcompete anyone else for a starting position. Of course I'm hoping that she chooses another program. If you haven't already figured it out, here's a hint.

Maybe Stanford is thinking about moving to a 6-2 in the future. I hope John doesn't let all that talent go to waste ala Texas or PSU.

I wouldn't be so quick to think that Stanford is Tarah Murrey's slam-dunk #1 choice. I think most people here need to just take a deep breath, and realize that there are a lot of top programs trying to recruit this young lady. It's likely they all stand a good chance of getting her to sign. She and her family are probably having a hard enough time even without this microscope on her about her college recruitment.

While Stanford is in the mix for Tarah and they would like to get her there, I think there are a few other schools that are higher up on her list. The Stanford environment isn't for everyone. She will pick a great school...for her.

(Barboza, Klineman, and Murrey) what an impressive 1 2 3 punch. Yes, $tanford would definitely find room for all three and would be a juggernaut. Klineman would probably hit opposite following in the footsteps of the great Kerri Walsh. I doubt she could set like Walsh -- perhaps the greatest non-setter in Stanford history.

If Murrey did commit to Stanford, and Dunning had to find room for all three, the most likely to hit opposite would be Barboza. She has had experience hitting from the right side, while Murrey and Klineman have hit from the left all of their life (from what I gather).

Actually Murrey played middle as a 7th and 8th grader I think. I've never seen her set, so have no idea if she might be able to play opposite. I would imagine that any of the three would be a reasonable candidate... All of them handle the ball pretty well.
