OK..so i read in a newspaper that Kanani Herring got nominated for National Junior of the Year. So, do you think she will be highly recruited? Let's start talking ;D

She'll be highly recruited, but I don't think she has really made it known what she is looking for. The biggest problem with Herring is that she could be similar to Kamanao. Kamanao grew up watching the Wahine and while she didn't close her options to any school, you kind of knew she was heavily leaning towards Hawaii. So while she was recruited by other schools, you kind of knew where she was headed. Herring hasn't made it too clear what she is looking for. She has the talent to be highly recruited, but if her goal is to play for Hawaii, schools are not going to aggressively go after her.

Minuses - relatively short. Plusses - everything else.

She's 5-9, but her vertical makes up for her height, probably the best all-around player with Klineman in girls high school volleyball this past year.

Her height spells libero.

Her height spells libero. Unless she comes to Washington Jim has used short OH with good success: Paige Benjamin, Stevie Mussie, and Jill Collymore

Jim didn't coach Paige, did he?

Jim didn't coach Paige, did he? He did. He took over in 2001 and coached her last two seasons at UW.

Her height spells libero. If it does, it would be disappointing because she is an exceptional VB player. I've seen her play twice and she reminds me a lot of Misty May, showing the same kind of quickness and agility. If she can't play OH then maybe a setter? Remember Hawaii's two all time great OHs, Kim and Tee, were less than 6' tall.

Pretty much all schools that are recruiting her are looking at her to be an outside hitter. She could be a really good libero but her front row game is just too good. But again, it's all going to depend on what she wants.

She's the type of player that every coach in the country is looking for, phenomenal in every part of the game. Whoever gets her, should be very happy, considering that she will be one of the top recruits in the country with a year left of High School ball.

She'll be great whatever position she plays in college. According to the posters on this board, she's capable of playing front row or back. So whether she ends up as an OH or libero, good luck to her! By the way, isn't Angie Pressey of Cal around the same height?

Her height spells libero. Unless she comes to Washington Jim has used short OH with good success: Paige Benjamin, Stevie Mussie, and Jill Collymore If I'm not mistaken, Paige Benjamin was the top OH of the Washington team that competed with UH at SSC in 2002. She was really good. Candace Lee wasn't an All-American type then, but you could tell she was good too. I also remember Sanja Tomasevic on that 2002 team.

Kanani is actually close to 5'10. So she's pretty tall enough to play front row for any top 10 program and not to mention her vertical leap is mad crazy....People, this girl can leap. And she is taller than Pressey of Cal......
