As someone who has followed KC's career since she was a HS freshman, I am happy she's going to go to a place where she can make an immediate impact.
It's tough being Kerri's sister. KC is very, very good, but she lives in that shadow and is too often compared to sis rather than to other 5-11 lefty setters who make great decisions and play balls to the wall defense.
Best of luck at OSU, KC, and pay no mind to Beachman, who just seems to enjoy being bitter.

At the second round match between LB State and Hawaii I witnessed one of the best defensive performances of the year by of all things........a junior transfer to the Beach. I am curious how Beachman refers to this fiery young lady, or does his smack flow only in one direction.
I for one think you, Beachman have crossed the line.

Wow. Kerri Walsh has more than one shadow? Both of Keri's sisters, combined, wouldn't add up to one good Keri Walsh.......plus they are both quitters! With an attitude like that LBSU should never allow players too transfer from others schools into their program. After all, by your definition all such players would be quitters that clearly have no business playing for "The Beach". So sayeth Beach(double standards R us)man.

Does "KC" stand for "Kansas City" or "Kristina Cheng"?
Thanks, in advance.

My record on transfers is clear, always was......the ability of the kids to early commit and then transfer without any punitive actions at all has hurt the game.....this has been promulgated by coaches who pressure these kids to commit, verbally, in the 9th and 10th grades....This generation of young people has little commitment I'm afraid.....a generalization but accurate on the whole......the fact that so many don't finish what they start is not a good thing....yes we have transfers and a couple of them were valuable members of our team last year....having said that, it is still a trend, I believe, that doesn't speak well for the state of collegiate volleyball or the young women who play it.....they aren't referred to as the "ME" generation for nothing!

I egree with most of what you say....but Stanford, Cal, USC have almost no tranfers.

Wow. Kerri Walsh has more than one shadow? Both of [Kerri's] sisters, combined, wouldn't add up to one good [Kerri] Walsh.......plus they are both quitters! Even before Kelli chose Long Beach, Beachman, I was hoping that she didn't go there... she'd heard far too much flattery for me to trust what would happen to her at a program known for throwing away players who no longer fit into their plans. When she didn't, after her nasty broken collarbone... they did. Moving on to Santa Clara at least gave her a chance to play if she got healthy again, which she apparently did not. From what I've read, K.C. was stuck behind another setter at LMU. With the new transfer rules in place, just about everyone who is stuck behind someone probably thinks about transferring.

How many Walsh's are there? Four... in order from oldest to youngest, Kerri, Marte (a 6'7" forward in men's BB), Kelli and K.C.

Didn't Ashley Dutro get the starting job? She's got one more season, I believe.

Perhaps this post should be in the 'Transfer' thread. But... Give these kids a break. Yes they commit too young. BUT sometimes the programs just aren't what they 'appeared' to be on the official or unofficial visit. SOME coaches do not accurately present their young recruits with true facts. Now here is my question. If you interviewed for a job with specific pay advancements, promotion promises, and a good team to work with you, you might take the job and be very excited about it. What if then after a year or two you realized that you weren't getting a raise, or being appreciated even though your work ethic was great. How about that compounded with someone else being promoted over you, and possibly not the best co-workers---what would YOU do? Don't forget to throw in a boss that is at times abusive. Unless any of you guys have been an 18-22 year old girl, you also don't quite have the insight needed for the emotional toil some of these things take.

....but Stanford, Cal, USC have almost no [transfers]. I don't remember any transfers... in or out... at Stanford in the ten years I've been a fan there. I don't even remember anyone who was asked to stop walking on... the only thing I heard from Coach Dunning about Jen Wilson and Kirsten Hornbeak choosing to leave the team after the 2005 season was regret and disappointment.
