While I understand Wrigley's general point, it's going too far. The Match Club (of which I'm not a member) is a fan-supported collegiate athletic club that is the envy of all teams across the country. It's history of support, especially finanically, to women's volleyball in Nebraska is unprecedented.
To any western Nebraskans who tried and failed to get tickets, I'm sorry that the state is too big, and there aren't any better facilities to have this event. But if the Match Club wanted all 2400 tickets, I'd say give it to them.

It will be a looooooooong time (if ever) that supply will catch up to demand. If NU were to build a volleyball palace in the 8,000 to 10,000 range that still managed to replicate the intimacy of the colosseum, the place would still be sold out for the season when season tickets go on sale. Not many schools can count womens volleyball as a revenue generating sport. The potential at Nebraska for womens volleyball to be a solid $$$$ maker for the athletic department will, at some point, force the issue. Cozy and comfy as the colosseum is Husker volleyball has long since outgrown the facility.

Wow...if matchclub wanted all 2400 tickets,... let them have them. Are you kidding me? A good friend of mine was going to take his two girls to the match. He had just missed the opportunity to buy tickets by a few minutes. His girls were devastated. Most of us would jump at the opportunity to help out at the colliseum if distance allowed. Unfortunately that is not the case. I assume many of the matchclub members are large donors? In other words......whoever has the biggest checkbook wins. Nebraska Volleyball has always been about the combination of talent and the support of their very loyal fans across the " entire," state. I would have thought your sense of decency and understanding of the general intention by Nebraska Volleyball to give the west a chance to see their team would have kept you home for this one single spring match . Guess not.

The people in the western end of the state are also doing their part running club teams, etc to grow Nebraska volleyball. Your sense of entitlement it laughable. Surely you aren't suggesting this makes sense. This is like saying that because I support Nebraska Volleyball, I should get a break on getting Olympic tickets over those who actually work for that level of volleyball. I am a Husker Match Club Member and I certainly feel I have every right to go as much as any Western Nebraska fan. I do work at the Match Club booth where I pay to go to a match and don't get to see and I do think that does give me some entitlement. I also work for the club in several other ways such as being a board member, handling my specific responsibilities, and helping other board members with their events. Many of us will also be helping to set up the Match Club sales booth and selling merchandise so will miss some of the match again. Incidentally, I just heard that the AVCA Showcase at the Qwest is not quite sold out so any of those western Nebraska fans who do want to see the Huskers play against even better competition have had ample opportunity to take advantage of this tournament. Do you want a plaque for your wall listing everything you do? Once again I will say, money will force Nebraska to build a new facility. If designed right you can have a great facility in the 7,000 - 9,000 seat range. (which will be more than their bb team draws from what I hear) All the die hards will complain the first 2 years after leaving the coliseum but then all you will hear is how great the new facility is with their crowds. Of course the AD will smile everytime he counts the ticket money.

Guess not. There could be some big donors in the Match Club. I wouldn't know. There are 3 levels in the Match Club $50, $250, & $500. I do know that there are a lot more members at the $50 level than at the other levels. $50 may be a big donor to you but to me it is not. I'm at the $500 level and the only added benefit I get is preferrential treatment when parking at home matches. Whether it was a typo or not an earlier posting said bus loads from Omaha& Lincoln not a bus load which indicates that there would be more than one bus from that area rather than a single bus. The fact is as the new Match Club news lettter came out today & according to it the Match Club bus isn't even full yet.

Not many schools can count womens volleyball as a revenue generating sport. True and only one womens program in the entire country is completely self-supporting and self-sustaining. The best thing about this fact is knowing that program doesn't belong to Nebraska. Some lead while others follow.

I wonder what a new 7,000 - 9,000 seat facility would cost and how many years it would take for those extra 2,800 - 4,800 seats to pay for that large new facility? I suspect the AD would prefer to put that money into football and basketball where the "real" big donors are and then just play several matches at the Qwest on special occasions. I'm sure Cook is very fond of the intimacy of the Coliseum and would prefer to play all of the important conference matches there. Incidentally, I did go to one bb game this year for the first time in a very long time and was surprised to see that it was nearly sold out at Devaney. I don't know if that was typical for this year or not but I was very impressed by the size of the crowd.

Hawaii's fan support for volleyball is outstanding. How many years running has Hawaii led the nation in attendence? Makes one wonder why more AVCA showcases and NCAA finals aren't played on the islands. I can think of worse destinations.

It is a matter of will and a matter of priorities. If you want to go to a match you will find a way to go or you will make sure that you are one of the first ones to try and get tickets. Its as simple as the saying---if you snooze you lose!

Never, ever suggest that NU has a better program than Hawaii. Either by the sin of omission or comission. Also don't even get them started on why more regionals aren't played in Hawaii. (which I actually do agree with most of their arguements in this case) If you are "wondering" why more NCAA Regionals and/or Final Fours aren't in Hawaii, just do a quick search of the following words/phrases on here: Screwed Whine Hawaii NCAA Committee Members You'll get your answers fairly quickly. Some rational, many not. By the way I also live in Colorado.

Well....you are very brilliant and clever,... therefore, I will leave it up to your cleverness to find those two girls and their mother three tickets to the match. I have explored every avenue and cannot seem to come up with anything. I do appreciate the fan who attempted to help me out. I do need to say however that you are correct . I procrastinated for the period of an entire hour during the sales of those tickets. I don't know what I was thinking. Trying to hold down my job and all. Looking forward to hearing good news from you !
