I think the whole thing is a stupid idea. These players are on scholarship to play indoor volleyball not some made for TV beach event. Sure, it's all fun & games until someone nukes a knee. Just ask Robert Edwards.

Pavan is actually a pretty good beach VB player. Folks in the US might not be aware that she did play beach in Ontario before joining Nebraska. So gues who could be in for a shock?? Pavan will be the next great hope for the national team or on the beach.....she just has to decide which arena she wants to dominate.

The Huskers have been playing quite a bit on the sand court but it is indoors. I think they'll have the legs and court savvy to play on sand but maybe not be able to handle the wind if that is at all an issue.

Put your money on Engle/Jennings. 2nd choice is Sutherland/Csaszi. Beach VB is a much different game from indoors. Pavan/Larson are in for a big shock! Isn't Jennings well under 5'9" ? Guess which of that pair will be receiving all the serves? Have those gals even seen sand or a beach during their time in Texas?

I think it does take time to get the ole sand legs back. Jennings was a terrific junior beach player.

I think Jennings and Engle will do great.
Say they serve Jennings a lot. I thikn that'll work out just fine. As an experienced back row player, she's a pretty awesome passer. She'll be passing to Engle, a 6'3" left handed setter, who can set, pound it down, or put in an an open spot on the court. She's got great awareness of the other side.

Jennings is about 5'9" but she was the Orange County player of the year as a senior in high school and can hit, set and do everything pretty well. Texas has 2 lakes with plenty of beach within 15 minutes of school and I'm sure they have been logging plenty of Beach time the last few weeks.

I heard talk that she wants to go to the Olympics and the best chance for her to do this would be in Beach VB since our Women's VB National Team is nowhere near Olympic calibre.

All you defenders of Jordan Larson just don't get it! She may be a great "all-around" player, but beach is a different game. Because she is a great "all-around" player, she may be a great prospect to be a good beach player in the future. But, it takes a lot of practice on the beach to become an accomplished beach player. Again, it is a different game.
It reminds me when Logan Tom was in high school. She was already "the next great thing". Well, she and one of her buddies from Utah (I think it was Carrie Bowers) came out to California to play in a junior beach tournament. They got killed by a bunch of 5'-6" So. Cal. beach players.
Again, put your money on the players who grew up in So. Calif. playing on the beach.

Sand court or not any time these girls practice it counts towards their NCAA spring bank so I don't think any of these girls will have "sand legs". It should be entertaining to say the least.

I'm no rules expert, but this statement seems a bit off base. As long as the coaching staff is not present, why wouldn't the players be able to use the indoor sand court as much as they wanted to prepare for the upcoming tournament? It really wouldn't be any different than college basketball players spending lots of their free time at open gyms playing pickup games. Maybe someone with good knowledge of the rules (BearClause?) can enlighten me if I am wrong.
