Injuries, Logan Tom missing half the season... I think at one point, we were out of the Top 25. So I wouldn't say never...

Nebraska only get better this year than last year. Only weakness might be how they handle a possible 6-2 vs the lack of libero. Will just have to wait and see on that. Stanford picks up Klineman who everyone is super pumped about and says she is the 2nd coming to the volleyball world, everyone is pumped, accept me. Care. Kristen Richards passing and defense will be missed so much. Cynthia Barboza needs to pick up her game, I think she's been told shes good one too many times. I've been more impressed with the no 2 recruit Larson. Also, Dunning needs to find a spot on the bench for last years libero. Stanford had the chance to take Nebraska down last year, but Fishy kept them back with too-many-too-count shanks. Good luck Farm... ps just give the ball to Foluke. Texas/PSU will be good, but I fear that they both will continue to suffer from having too much talent and the coaching staff not being able to use the talent to the best of their abilities... will see. Florida will be a top 4 team this year. Mcginnis, the best setter in the college game, will shine in her senior year... imo of course. Hampton was "the most impressive" at the nation team tryout this year. McCray, Killingsworth, and that libero that I can't think of her name right now ohh my. UCLA will struggle to find an answer to the lack of Merriweather. (sp). But..... with the addition of Holloway UCLA will be strong. U$C will probably be the best and somehow get Gamova and Sokalova to come play for them. I'm sure Mick is trying to get Feng Kun to come play too. See, and I have this kinda sneaking suspicion that Nebraska will have too much uncertainty with integrating Houghtelling, Licht, and the possible second setter. I have this gut feeling they might end up as low as fourth, with Florida third, and I don't know who losing to Stanford in the Final. The rosters say PSU should be that team, but as I've mentioned in other threads I am so over them after their underperforming postseasons in the last several years.

I think the WCC will much a bit weaker this year than what we are used to seeing. San Diego graduated Kristen Carlson and Christie Dawson and while blue chippers Ali Troost and Ashton Basch will be Toreros this Fall, I think that is just too much firepower to overcome. I really hope they prove me wrong because the coaching staff there is superb. Jessica Nyrop returns to run the show so hopefully her experience as a redshirt junior will help in the transition of the post-Carlson era.
Santa Clara graduates Kim McGiven, its go-to hitter the past two seasons and her kills and leadership will be hard to replace. Middle blocker Annalisa Muratore and Megan Pura are also gone and freshman Erin Bragg will have to step up right away. She'll be playing across All-American middle Anna Cmaylo and receiving sets from All-American Crystal Matich. Freshman Krista Kelley could help in the passing rotation and will help out junior Brittany Lowe on the left.
Pepperdine loses its libero, Kekei Crabbe, and top middle blocker in Sophia Milo. The Waves are a TALL team, but do they have the ball control to help utilize their height? I am betting no. However, come 2008, when Stevi Robinson comes on board, it could be another story.
I really don't see any WCC team cracking the Top 20 and I think if any team will be in the Top 25 or Top 20, it will be San Diego.
Cal Poly will be a Top 10 team this year. Book it.
I've said before that Stanford's season hinges more likely on Gabi Ailes than Alix Klineman. I think Klineman will have no trouble adjusting offensively, but defensively is the question mark. If Ailes can play at a high level, then all the better.
UCLA will utitlize the outsides more and Holloway will have a huge impact for them, though not a Meriwether impact. They be competitive, but slightly below a Final Four team, imho.

See, and I have this kinda sneaking suspicion that Nebraska will have too much uncertainty with integrating Houghtelling, Licht, and the possible second setter. If they have trouble integrating Houghtelling, just sit her. They have already proven that they can win without her. Insert Mueller and just continue rolling.

Notice I didn't say they would struggle in preseason or in conference, and I didn't say they wouldn't easily make the Final Four. I said they could be "as low as fourth". Meaning my Tarot reader tells me some unexpected problem will plague their appearance in Sacramento. But you're probably right, they will sail clearly through all opponents into a repeat championship and won't have any difficulties like, oh, I don't know... just to pull a hypothetical out of the air that would never ever happen in real life... having a starting OH go through four semifinal games with only six kills but just as many errors.
