so do you think they might have a chance to do well next year with the incoming talent? Define "well." I'd say "better," don't know about "well."

Do you think they have a chance to win some conference matches next year?

Under Dunbar, she won't be the last either.

IU had plenty of chances to win conference matches last year...and the year before. They sometimes took one game...and many more were close but slipped away. Close does not count...unless you use it for change.
Can they win...absolutely. They had the talent before...but so many reasons why it did not work. The past is irrelevant, though. And, can they win next fall? Yes. Mental preparation, confidence in themselves, belief in the coaching and meshing the incoming 6 with the remaining players, keeping injuries under control, letting go of the ghost of years past, stratigizing--knowing more than one way to close the deal, etc.
Let's see what Dunbar brings to all this.
Yep, they can win.

Word from Bloomington is the new coach is attempting to clean house and bring in her own. There is also a concern that a key recruit has not yet qualified. Not sure if this is the Polish kid or not. If all goes well, Indiana could create some problems for some Big Ten pretenders.

Two graduating seniors...four others gone for various reasons. That should give the coach plenty of space to move forward. Unless Dunbar plans to renig on remaining scholarship players, IU should be stable. Vacating players were top academic students...IU may be the only Big Ten school that received ACVA academic awards in the past few years...and has high marks for athletic graduation. Hopefully the replacements will bring this attribute to the table along with volleyball skills. Please explain the David Jack comment...

Just a guess, but the David Jack comment was most probably a joke.
Are Allison Regas and Erica Short staying?

At least one walk on has been asked to leave as well as one scholorship player- for a team violation. Regas and Short are staying. One of the recruits is having Clearinghouse problems- but has been admitted to the University. David Jack is having a huge impact on the program.

In general, things are looking up...leaving now would only be an indication that the coach is not interested in a player's ability to contribute...or perhaps feels that she has better players lined up elsewhere and has communicated it to a player. Even though the coach is new to the Big Ten, she has to be fair to present athletes to be credible and respected in the IU community.
Corporate America may allow new management a total housecleaning--bringing in their own team, but from what has been written about this coach, this seems unlikely and not necessary. IU's spring ball has been fairly successful...given the few players Dunbar had to work with.
As far as the new recruits...we shall see. High school and club ball are another game...the stakes are less (job security of the coach, etc), the daily environment known (home-sweet-home), and the academic rigors do not compare with university expectations. Not every good athlete can step up to the plate and remain in the game. Six new players--nearly half a team. IU needs the total package from every player. We shall see...and hope.

What players should make the biggest impact on the team next year to be successful?

Aside from the new coach dismissing 3-5 players and the assistant coach bringing in a Polish recruit who nobody knows much about - what indications are there that "things are looking up" aside from the fact that when you are 11th in the Big Ten, the only place to look is "up"?
