University Park, Pa., May 10, 2006 – Matches against 11 teams that competed in the 2006 NCAA Tournament, including seven that reached the Regional Semifinals, highlight the 2007 Penn State women’s volleyball schedule.
Among its opponents, Penn State will play defending national champion Nebraska, national runner-up Stanford, regional finalists Minnesota and Texas, along with regional semifinalists Ohio State, Wisconsin and Purdue and NCAA Tournament participants St. John’s, Michigan State and Cal Poly.
The Nittany Lions hold a 331-76 (.813) record over opponents it will face during the 2007 regular season, including a 277-43 (.866) Big Ten record since joining the conference for the 1991 season. The slate also features first-time meetings with St. John’s and Delaware State in the sport of women’s volleyball.
Penn State opens the schedule on Aug. 24-25, hosting consecutive home matches with Texas, who finished last season ranked seventh in the nation. The Nittany Lions then take to the road for the Nebraska Labor Day Tournament to face No. 17 Cal Poly on Friday, Aug. 31 in Lincoln, Neb., before taking on the No. 1 Huskers on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 3:00 p.m. at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb.

In addition, 2006 Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year opposite/middle hitter Blair Brown, who sat out last season with a redshirt, will be eligible, along with five-time New York Gatorade Player of the Year libero Alyssa D’Errico and middle hitter Arielle Wilson, who is ranked seventh nationally by Prepvolleyball.com.
