Thanks for providing that link. I hadn't seen the matches it. It was quite entertaining, and it looked like both sets of girls were having a lot of fun! Both pairs of young ladies showed great athleticism and talent. I was quite impressed by all of them. Cynthia seemed to show the most beach experience with such a large repertoire of shots. Pavan was a blocking machine and put up a huge wall. And did you see Kehoe's abs? Dang girl.

Dammit. It's NOT a rematch of the 2006 national championship!

Wow Cynthia has a lot of beach skills, I wonder if the national team might lose her to the beach. Imagine a team of Barboza and Logan Tom for the London Olympics.

When we're in 2016, we may look back and realize that Misti and Kerri's 2004 media success (and, to a lesser extent, their medal success) basically doomed the USA's indoor program for the next fifteen years. Was any other event more replayed than the beach Finals and their post-victory interview?

Beach ball has been terrible for the sport. There's no getting around it.

As we've talked about before, there are only a very small handful of players that make "decent" money. The winners of a tournament have to SPLIT $15k to $20k. I really don't understand how the players outside of the top 6 or so can make any sort of living playing the sport.
There is more money, for more players in the indoor professional leagues. I'm sure someone can be more specific, but it seems that in the last couple of years pay and demand for players has really increased. Spain and Russian are taking so many of the top players away from Italy.

but, to play professionally overseas....well, you have to go overseas. You can't live in Cali. This may discourage a lot of players, who don't want to learn a different language, etc.....

I watched the first 10 minutes of this CSTV video and I got bored. I don't understand how anyone would think beach vb is an entertaining spectator sport. And please, don't even bring up the bikinis or hot bods angle, because that don't work with me...well, at least not within the sport of beach vb.

It's like bowling in jello, except that bowling's boring to begin with.
It's terrible for the sport.

Oh phooey ya old fart. Might as well take away speed skating (like running only too slippery), or any tennis tourney on a surface other than your fav.
I love watching beach vb. It takes real athleticism and a great all-around game to play, and I don't have to watch a lot of slow, tall non-athletes. Here's a raspberry noise for ya!

You must be addressing Ruffda. He and Gorf are the only ones who qualify as "old farts" in this thread.

(R)uffda!, isn't really an old fart yet.
I don't mind being called on though since I'm older than the (R)!ster.
