It isn't easy... I've read that both Tom and Nnamani had trouble dealing with the slower pace (and less gifted teammates) on their return... and Nnamani's fame and fortune and exposure to the greats helped transform her from being friendly (if goofy) with boosters to downright surly. She's cut in on me several times, most egregiously with someone I sat with all the way through a match at Haas, expecting me to get out of her way before she will talk to them. She's living proof of the adage that noblesse oblige is only felt by those who are noble.
Interesting take.......

Fawcett was invited and declined playing on the US team at Pan Am's Any idea if she has any interest in competing in Beijing? I think she could be a candidate for OPP after 2008. Harmotto should join the NT as well.

On this I dot not believe you are correct. The competitions that coaches have to perform well are WC's Olympic Zone Qialification ad Olympics. The other touraments are not features of importance. Russia is most decorated nation in Olympics as this is only tournament that is stressed in this country. And in the USA hardy anyone cares a lick about the Olympics. This is the major overall reason the USA has to get fairly lucky to medal in the Olympics. The American volleyball community cares far, far more about juniors club, and NCAA than they do about the Olympics. This is probably the best you have explained your position so far, and it's a position that is easily defendable. It would certainly be better for the American players to develop a better mental make-up earlier in their careers. That much I'm sure everyone can agree on. Historically it takes American players 3-5 years after college to become world class players. Danielle Scott, Logan Tom, and Heather Bown are all examples. I'm not sure that players can't develop the mental make-up (among other things) after a certain age, but their window of opportunity is much smaller than their counterparts. It also makes it very difficult to get 7 or 8 players all reaching world class at the same time.

She hasn't led Stanford to the "promised land" yet. What makes you think she can do it when she starts playing much better athletes in the future.
I think Pavan is the future.

Pavan needs to marry an American, start on our National Team and then have lots of tall powerful babies.

"Tall powerful babies" sounds creepy. I'm picturing a 4 ft. baby smacking around other babies and taking their rattles. Pavan needs to marry an American, start on our National Team and then have lots of tall powerful babies.

Why in the world would she want to go through the excruciating process of breaking up with Canada in order to marry the USA, when the USA team will be with the Canada team down at the bar watching the Beijing Olympics on tv anyway?
