Are you sick and tired of package deals? Here's what I'm talking about:
Terry Liskevych of Oregon State hiring the Australian national coach as an assistant. And he gets Australia's 6'5" Rorke to play for Oregon State.
Missouri's Kreklows hired a set of Chinese coaches who brought in Chinese players.
Charlie Wade who brought in a bunch of his club players to Hawaii when he became an assistant coach in the mid-1990s.
There were talks of Jen Saleaumua's dad (or relative) getting a job with Nebraska around the time Saleaumua committed to Nebraska.
You can imagine the behind-the-scenes negotiations that took place, almost in businesslike fashion. You can have my top player, Sarah Sevenfooter, but what do I get? Or, in consideration of me feeding my top players to you, you're going to make me an associate head coach in a couple of years.
It's so sickening, I'm thinking of sticking to watercolor fulltime for the remainder of my days.

One could argue package deals is an efficient way to find and hire talent for job openings. For example, without package deals, we would never have had Fleetwood Mac, as we know it. Lindsey and Stevie joined together when Mick discovered them quite by accident at a recording studio. Ahh, but I digress...

Although he would have been totally justified in doing so...

No, Mick needed a lead guitarist at the time, and really wanted Lindsey. But that's neither here nor there.

Let's not forget the Kreklows, Feng and Yang, and their Chinese Connection at Mizzou.

I don't think the Chinese coaches at Mizzou are "a package deal".
They both played for the Kreklows at Columbia College(in missouri). or played at columbia just after the Kreklows left.
Do they recruit in china? Definately. does it help? yes.
But a package deal, where they have their jobs solely because of who they have coached and/or sired? NO.

Coaching is business-like and political. People are going to surround themselves with a team/staff that will better help them succeed.
Why is this such a bad thing?

Also worth mentioning, Louisville hires Leonid Yelin and now Lousiville fields or maybe I should say courts, a team comprised mostly of socialists.

People seem to forget that the assistants played for the Kreklows. This happens in volleyball all of the time.... but, apparently, the "CHINA CONNECTION" adds the factor that upsets some on this board.

Yeah, I wondered why you rarely here people complain about Yelin's international recruiting. He's been doing his thing at Louisville long before the Kreklows.

Until Louisville actually starts to win, who is really going to care who Yelin puts on the court, or where they are from.

Lets not forget volleyball doesn't exactly have the biggest recruiting budget, so who you know can save a lot of money as far as finding talent, if someone can bring the talent to you.....the I understand that feelings of some in how the view the kreklows, but look at it from this standpoint, it would probably be impossible to get these plays without a chinese connection, furthermore, has it really helped the program that much, I mean, non of them have been AA or even close, it not like they are competing for national or even Big 12 championships, so whats the big deal?
