We'll take her at Texas...
And as far as picking a college goes, here are my two cents. Why NOT pick a prime volleyball program? Yeah, it's not a ticket to a pro league and a $7 million future. Still, a player of that calliber probably wants to play on a good team. You could argue that she would want to be the "star" of a lesser known team and get the joy of bringing them to national power. However, while she might be the best '08 recruit, she would IN NO WAY be the best in NCAA. So she wants to surround herself with some of the best players in the country to make herself grow. Why be complacent when you can still be so much better. I don't think there's any problem with these ladies wanting to go to premier programs. Coaching also plays a big part of the equation. At a smaller, or lesser known school, you may not have access to the coaching that you want.
But from the academic standpoint, you want to go to a college that has a broad range of academia. Hopefully that college is notoriously strong in several academic areas, but even if its not known for a certain area, it's good to know that a lot of majors are offerred. Most of the time, hard core specialization doesn't even really happen until graduate school either (which is becomming the standard more and more). Bigger schools probably have an edge here. Why go to just a liberal arts college? Or a college that specializes in all things math? So you're interested in that when you get there, but after a year, you realize you want to do something completely different. Too bad. Transfer or get stuck with a degree that doesn't interest you.
But there are still SOOOO many other things to consider: the college town itself, proximity to family/relatives, proximity to sites and attractions, etc...
But go to Texas!

Did I tell you about my two friends from high school?
One (let's call him "Paul") was a mediocre student, but you could tell he was smart. He just didn't have the family support or resources to get himself out of his economic woe. The other (let's call him "Rich") was from a rich family. He was smart but did not have the work ethic. Paul ended up at a community college. He also worked at In&Out and work study to support himself through school, because his family couldn't. Rich ended up at Yale, like his dad. In a couple years, Paul transferred to San Jose State and majored in electrical engineering after getting his AA from the community college. When Paul and Rich graduated, Paul got a job at National Semiconductor as a verification engineer. Rich decided to party around Europe. Within 6 years, Paul did very well and got his master's degree in electrical engineering from San Jose State. Rich kinda fell off the earth and I never heard from him. Paul then got himself into Stanford's MBA program and is now a Vice President for a start-up company here in the Bay Area.
A couple years ago, I got a call from another friend who told me that Rich died when his jeep went over the side of a cliff in Fiji. Apparently, he was high as a kite on that day which probably contributed to the accident. Others say it was suicide. That was the day I did not post here on VT. Apparently, what had happened to Rich was that he partied around Europe and lived off his trust fund. He had no motivation to work. He then got involved with some shady characters in Maui and was invovled in drug dealing when his family cut back on his trust fund.
Paul is now married with two kids and living the good life. (BTW, I did not post here on the day of his wedding) But he is still a hard worker. He told me he still thinks of himself as that poor kid from high school and that's why he works so hard -- because he doesn't want to go back to the way it was.
Well, maybe this story wasn't relevant. I guess I just wanted to point out the two days I did not post here -- the day Paul got married and the day I heard about Rich's death.

Yes, thanks for the wake up call! We all need a slap in the face from time to time. If you've got kids, then don't make their life too easy. A nation of obese, video game playing, and overly coddled kids is a recipe for disaster.

Nebraska doesn't need her!.....I hope she picks Florida or Michigan....... Since when does "not needing someone" matter to the likes of Nebraska and Stanford...they go for the #1 recruit for the sake of getting her and leave the rest of us to be bottom feeders.

I said that because Nebraska already has a 6'5 lefty in Litchman or whatever her name is.......
