Some big matches this weekend. The traveling pair of PSU and OSU pit up against Wisky and the Illini, the marquee matchup of this obviously being the showdown of B10 unbeatens on Sunday. Also on the dockett that could be interesting is the odd team out, Michigan's matchups with the Indiana crew. IU tonight and Purdue tomorrow night. Of course Minny and Iowa take on NU and MSU, but if anything besides a 2-0 weekend for the GG and some bottom dweller barn burners happens, I'll be surprised.
I see the standings like this at the end of the weekend.
1. PSU 10-0 2. Wisconsin 9-1 (maybe 8-2, they better look out for OSU while they look forward to the big match on Sunday) 3. Minnesota 7-3 4. Purdue 6-4 5. Michigan 5-5 5. Indiana 5-5 7. Illinois 4-6 (they could catch PSU off guard, but it won't be enough) 8. MSU 3-7 8. OSU 3-7 (Maybe 4-6 after an upset of wisconsin) 10. Northwestern 2-8 11. Iowa 1-9

The Indianas vs Michigans is going to have a big impact on middle of the pack.

Do you seriously think Ohio St. will beat Illinois on the road? This year? I hope so, but I'm not betting the proverbial farm...

If you were to look at trends for Illinois, I'd bet you'd find they invariably lose after the big win, especially after a big win over Minnesota.
I don't believe in that crap. But I'd bet that's what you'd find.

I don't think Illinois will lose to OSU but I could be wrong. Otherwise I think you've got it pretty accurate.

But I'd bet that's what you'd find. Of course, there is also the issue that they have tended to invariably lose after a loss, too. That's why you don't have to believe that crap. It's like saying Penn St rebounds after their big losses. Well, they are darn likely to win, regardless of when they play, so why should the match after a big loss be that much different? Must...resist...the urge...to investigate...Illinois's....performance...after...a...big...win...

The trend is that they're 4-1 on the road and 0-3 at home.

I hope the OSU-Illinois doesn't go five. That has to be raising the stress levels of the Illinois fans.

Your prediction about IL was spot-on. But you didn't see Northwestern over Minnesota coming... (I didn't either!) B10 = Meatgrinder And instead of the conference getting respect for having such parity, we will be told the conference is down. I don't think so. I think that every team has gotten better, although some can't show it because of key injuries.

Northwestern wasn't surprising, however, it does clog up the middle of the pack even more. And Illinois is a good team that loves going five at home.. and losing.

LOVES losing in five? ? That's insulting.

Northwestern wasn't surprising. That Minnesota would continue to play that poorly was.

I actually think the conference is down this year, which really surprises me. The teams at the bottom are stronger, but the middle isn't as good. I just wish I had more data on which to base that conclusion. Stupid Big Ten Network!

I think this is the 3rd or 4th year in a row the Big10 has been down. 2004 was the last year it was up there with the Pac10.
