USA wins 5th set, 15-10.
I too hope Ball isn't injured badly. From the way the announcers were talking, they sounded very concerned.

Any update on Ball? It was good he was able to come back, but he was far from 100%. Of course, even a less than 100% Ball gives them a better chance, no offense to Hansen who did what he could. But you can just see how much of a leader Ball is out there.

Live on NBC USA leads 9-7 in game 1 I have always wondered why is it when there is a match that everyone is talking about at the moment whether it's m/w indoor, beach, collegiate or international and the match is on TV or on the Net that the scores have to posted every other second? Wouldn't most of us who be watching and/or listening to that match?

But you can just see how much of a leader Ball is out there. This match was shown in its entirety on the west coast(which I'm sure it was in the other U.S. time zones) and by now USA Volleyball should have put out a press release on Ball's condition. I really wasn't a fan of Ball even though he's a great setter(is he in the same league as Dusty Dvorak and Jeff Stork...yes, I know that's for another topic) but now I'm slowly warming up to him and for the first time I'm impressed with his playing ability and the rest of the U.S. team. Paul Sunderland and Kevin Barnett said that this team has chemistry and they're right...something that has been missing for a long, long time. They were really good in games one, two and part of the time in game three and I was hoping that they wouldn't cool off - which we know they did, but they pulled it together to win the last game against a very feisty Venezuelan team. I really like the chances of this team winning a medal. Good job guys...keep up the good work.

Next time I'll just start a thread and post nothing. BTW, half the country didn't see that match live, so if they wanted scores, they could've come to this thread to find out.

Kudos to Ball (Loy and Arnie)! Met Loy years ago - remarkable guy and oustanding athlete! My daughter is so impressed (volleyball player in 6th and 7th grade, 8th TBD as tryouts are the 19th of Aug). You are an inspiration to us! Thank you!

Many people are following the game at their workplace, where they may not be able to have a nonstop video/audio stream on their computer. It's better to have a play-by-play text format that can be reloaded as necessary.

From the article Ball said the team now has full-time security guards. Interpol and the U.S. Secret Service have become involved in the investigation, and President Bush spoke with McCutcheon and offered White House doctors. (His mother-in-law's condition was upgraded today from critical to serious.)
Now that's a standup thing to do on the part of Dubya.

Where's it say anything about his injury?
I find it ironic when people talk about how dangerous China is. We had a frickin' BOMB set off in Atlanta! How soon people forget.
