Those crazy Cubans..... If they'd only given them more internet access this would probably never have happened.

First off, the wrestler never "threw" his medal. If you watch the tape he just lays it on the mat, waves to the crowd and walks away. Secondly, there is a huge difference between a symbolic gesture such as taking your medal off as means of protest and physically attacking a referee. Lastly, regardless if there was just cause for the Cuban to be upset, physical violence as a last resort is utterly classless and unacceptable under any circumstances. Yes I agree, and thanks for the correction on the Swede's actions. But, does anyone here understand the sport of Tae kwon do? Just wondering if the Cuban had a reason to be upset. Was it a really unfair call? I looked it up. The following online magazine claims to have the complete English language rules in place for the Olympics: www.taekwondotimes.com/index.php?PAGE_ID=303Article 19. procedures for Suspending the Match 1. When a contestant is to be stopped due to the injury of one or both of contestants, the referee shall take the following measures: 2. The referee shall suspend the contest by declaration of "Kal-yeo" and order the Recorder to suspend the time keeping by announcing "Kye-hi" [suspend]. 3. The referee shall allow the contestant to receive first aid within one minute. 4. The contestant who does not demonstrate the will to continue the contest after one minute, even in the case of a slight injury, shall be declared loser by the referee. 5. In case resumption of the contest is impossible after one minute the contestant causing the injury by a prohibited act to be penalized by "Gam-jeom" shall be declared loser. 6. In case both of the contestants are knocked down and are unable to continue the contest after one minute, the winner shall be decided upon points scored before the injuries occurred. 7. When it is judged that a contestant's health is at risk due to losing consciousness of falling in an apparently dangerous condition, the referee shall suspend the contest immediately and order first aid to be administered. The referee shall declare as loser, the contestant causing the injury if it is deemed to have resulted from a prohibited attack to be penalized by "Gam-jeom", or in the case the attack was not deemed to be penalized by "Gam-jeom", shall decide the winner on the basis of the score of the match before suspension of the time. In case of the situation which warrants suspending the match beyond the above prescribed procedure, the referee shall declare `Shi-gan¡¯ (time) to stop the match and continue the match by declaring `Kye-sok¡¯ (continue).

Looks like the coach was yelling out him a bit and was in the middle of breaking it up. Hopefully he isn't affected by this.
Isn't there usually a warning? Hey, 5-seconds left, bud, can you play?
