Congrats to the Clay Stanley and the US men!
I've been a fan ever since his days at UH. He was always a great player. I believe that he still owns the record for kills in a match with 50 against UCLA. I always knew that he would have great success! It was sad when he left the team to concentrate on his national team prospects but we in Hawaii are so very proud of our island brother!

Best thing for Stanley in this Olympics prolly isn't the fact that he got MVP, but that he didn't spend the night after his last match in jail like he did in Athens.

What a frikkin' beast during the tournament. The best hammer on a USA Olympic roster since Timmons.

It was in the news shortly after the Athens' games. Something about a disagreement with some bar patron, his girlfriend, and Stanley. I think he knocked down a motorscooter or something and got into an altercation. Relatively minor, but I do remember him having to spend the night in jail. I think he got probation. Could probably google for it.

Just randomly, because the thread is about a Hawaii native. I read somewhere that all the athletes representing from the USA in the games came away with medals. 10 for 10. Impressive for such a small state.
Clay Stanley - Gold Lindsey Berg- Silver Robyn Ah Mow-Santos -Silver Brandon Brooks (Men's Water Polo) - Silver Brian Clay (Decathalon) - Gold Natasha Kai (Soccer) - Gold
Can't think of the other 4.

I thought the 10 for 10 was UH athletes, not necessarily Hawaii athletes. In fact, the wrestler, Carissa Chun from Hawaii, did not medal... The UH athletes that medaled were: AhMow, Bown, Willoughby, - Volleyball - Silver Stanley - Volleyball - Gold Van Belkum, DeNooy - Waterpolo (Netherlands) - Gold Porter, Smethurst - Softball (Australia) - Bronze Kai - Soccer - Gold Schlanger - Swimming (Australia) - don't know which color
