Did Danielle Scott have work done on her face? I think so. I wish she didn't.

I don't remember Scott Fortune's kill, but I sure as hell remember being pissed off at Bob Samuelson for killing the chances of winning gold in 1992. It didn't help that Brian Ivey was cramping/knee locked up on the sideline. Actually, the forfeit of the Japan match in 1992 and the "Volleybald" incident did MORE to help that team to their eventual Bronze medal than it did to hurt them. Prior to the Olympics, the team had not really gelled - there were the returning veterans like Ctvrklik, Partie, Stork, Timmons, the veterans who had stayed like Fortune and Sato, and the new guys like Ivie and Samuelson. And Kiraly didn't do USA volleyball any favors by waiting until the absolute last minute to make his decision to not return to the program. The decision to shave their heads in protest against the FIVB was also a show of support for their teammate Samuelson. It brought the team together, and even though they struggled early on in the tournament, they got better each match and could have easily won the gold and not the bronze. The only thing that kept the 1992 team from the gold was Timmons' sore achilles and the fact that he got called for 3 consecutive backrow attack faults. Had they beat Brazil in the semifinals, they would have easily beaten the Netherlands in the gold medal match since Peter Blange got injured and Arie Sellinger's 5'9" son had to set the entire match.

I don't think the only thing that kept USA from Gold or gold medal match was Timmon's sore achilles and 3 backrow attack faults. In fact, I would think that his sore achilles was a result of his continuous attacking the ball to get his team where they were. Now I'm not saying that the steady passing, setting, attacking and Samuelsons' ability to fire up even the ball shaggers wasn't crucial to their success, just that his "temper" gave the opponent an unearned critical point during the game/match etc.
