Diont get me wrong the guy is a solid player but not at the collegiate level. Basically hes too short and doesn't get up to the level as the big opp, just imagine Pat vs Otte...... now u understand.

Otte is a solid player with all the physical characteristics to be a great v-ball player except one- his height. If he had a higher vert than he could make up for his height but unfortuantely he does not. That is really tough in MPSF, which sports giants. Just think logically if otte went against Pat he would get roofed, and thats exactly who he is facing.

I can't believe you think that Tuyay is that good. Yeah Wilton has gotten some players to come from California, but Motter. He is sooooo unproven at the next level and we shall see about the eligibility of the Brazilian with regards to the new rules. Did he play in the alumni game? Wilton better pray to the volleyball gods that Costas does not get hurt this season or else there will be some trouble in pradise.

To appease the volleyball gods, Wilton has agreed to throw virgin Josh Stanheiser down the volcano. As an added bonus, he'll throw in Daniel Rasay.

Pat Nihipali at the top of that poll? No way...the kid is tall but he is no Paul Nihipali thats for sure. He won't make an immediate impact at UCLA, in fact I bet he doesn't even travel his freshman year. He is not an athlete, he is very slow.

unless the power tip all of a sudden becomes baffeling to every defensive player in the nation, nipali will never make an impact. let alone making an impact his freshmen year.

Funny thing about Paul Nihipali: he started 4 yearsand was an exceptional player, but he never reached the level of a Nygaard, where he could take over a match. It will be interesting to see how Pat's career at UCLA goes.

Impressive. I have to agree, I have heard that Motter has proven useless as a hitter, against the hawaii block in practice, but I hear he is a good passer, but can't dig a MPSF ball.

I have seen many raw freshman come into the league and develop their skills over the years. Don't be so quick to drop freshman right away because the D1 game is not something that is learned overnight. It takes time unless you are one of the special players that come along once in a blue moon Like Wong, Romain, Topple, Costas, McKensie, Rooney, etc. I haven't seen these young guys play but I'm sure some of them will be future All-American because that's just the way the cycle goes.

I completely agree with Guest. So what if a freshman comes in and isn't ready for the college game. We dont see a lot of players that can come in and just take over. Costas, Toppel, Rooney, Naeve were all spectacular but other players developed over time. Some of them because great over the years they have played, even after having a rocky start as a freshman.

I have to agree that you shouldn't expect a whole bunch from these freshman. There are very few freshman that has been able to make the adjustment for high school ball to college ball in their freshman year.
All of you shouldn't start putting down these freshman just yet. Give them time and they can mature into decent or maybe even awesome college players.
Matt Motter hasn't even seen the floor yet in his college career, so how can all of you say that he hasn't adjusted yet. He hasn't even got the chance to prove himself. And Pedro Azenha is an awesome player, but I'm not sure about him being the next Costas just yet. We shouldn't expect that much of him before he even starts to play. That's how lots of bad talk starts later on, if Pedro doesn't produce like how everyone expected him to.
I think that Kimo Tuyay has done an excellent job setting for the Warriors. I think he made the adjustment just fine when he was a freshman. Having to take over the Warrior offense. Of course setters and other players will have off matches because we all are human, but what makes a true player is that they are able to come right back and play to their potential and I think Kimo is starting to come through now.
Other than that I don't really know about the other freshman that are listed here, but hopefully I'll find out about them when they meet the Warriors.
Aloha.

I'm telling you now. watch out for my Boy Duncan Budinger, Long Beach State. He'll be the top freshman this year. He'll start every game, and improve game to game. Every freshman needs a mentor, and think Dave Lee will provide Duncan that. Peters (Beach) Jensen (UCSB) are the others to look at. I don't know of two many outstanding freshman OH that will start and have any impact. Bookumdanoaloha

Budinger is making impact now. Agree, he is one to keep an eye on.
