Great article. Obviously someone took many notes during the tournament and had access to the players for quotes. I have read through the free message board posts for a long time, but did not realize you supplied such thorough analysis of club games. As a follower of the club scene, I have been inspired to break down and pay the subscription fee.

I didn't mean to offend you, Mr. Banana. I was just trying to provide a quick, accurate description for the person who inquired. I believe I did mention tournament recaps, like the one you graciously provided. I guess I look at JT and company as not just being those who run the site, but as users as well. Not sure why you took such offense to my previous post...

We wrote a half-dozen other Crossroads-related articles as well.
Answering lefty mike, I'm not really a user. PrepVolleyball.com is a huge site that exists separate and apart from the message boards. Of our 16,000 subscribers, I'd say half or more never venture near the message boards.
I've been writing about volleyball nationally for almost 10 years now, travel the country about 120 days of the year and average 80-100 hours a week at work. I am not a hobbyist. I take my job seriously, including doing the national rankings and choosing Gatorade Player of the Year. Which is why I guess I don't want to be grouped with those who come to the message boards to be entertained.
As you know, message board posts often can't adequately convey someone's tone. Please understand that I am not angry. I just wanted to be sure to clarify so that folks thinking about subscribing would not get the wrong idea about us.
Cheers.

Coming from a basketball background and experience with the basketball boards, fewer recruiting forums for volleyball is a good thing. There are too many people who are misinformed, want to self-promote their kid, and/or have an ax to grind to make recruiting boards useful and civilized. The recent threads on this board about a parent having problems with their daughter's club is an example of what you see commonly on the recruiting message boards. Luckily, on this board the most common infraction is someone wishing something to be true because the are a fan(atic) for their school or they downplay a kid's talent because they didn't live up to someone else's expectation. If the coach of a big time program feels that a player can help their team win and represent the school well, then that's about the only opinion that matters. I get what you mean and I agree; that's pretty irksome. But I meant more like the forums on Scout/Rivals sites that are mostly just fans discussing recruiting (who got whom, who's the best/worst/whatever) and discussing the preparation, playing, outcome of games, etc. Not sure if I didn't explain that enough.

There is no rivals.com for volleyball. I think the population who cares is just too small. Richkern's committment list is as close as you can get. However, I've stumbled upon two more volleyballish blogs that are interesting. www.lindseyberg.comlindseyberg.blogspot.com www.thekimglassblog.blogspot.com/

PrepVolleyball is awesome. The articles range from coverage of tournaments and national events, to ranking players and teams, to injury prevention, to training teams throughout the season. It's a no-brainer subscription. No brainer.

If I could subscribe to only one of RK and PrepVB, it would be RK. PrepVB has problems in my experience. For example, I subscribe to PrepVB. When I attempt to reply to a comment on, for example, a "College Talk" thread, I get the following message: "This board was upgraded to Yuku. Please login with your ezboard username and ezboard password. You can also use your ezboard email and ezboard password." Yuku is discussed in this wiki page en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YukuWhen I attempt to log onto "Yuku" using my PrepVB username and password, I get the following message: "Sorry, your login attempt failed. If you are having problems with your username try your email. Local user names should always have @community on the end. Example: bob@lobby" So I'm not impressed with PrepVB. While I have had an enjoyable email discussion with John Tawa on a volleyball topic, I never received any reply from the "technical staff" at PrepVB on this Yuku issue. JT seems like a great guy. BTW: If you know how to fix my problem, I'm interested in insight.

As I've been learning about websites, html, etc. I put together a basic website of volleyball links. It's really just an extension of my bookmarks: www.VolleyLink.comGoogle is good, but at times, it is too commercial. Google does not always show real volleyball websites. VolleyLink could use a lot of work. It is not connected to any type of database and there are many features to be added (a search bar, an interactive submit link to automatically update the site, etc.). If there is someone technical that has interest in expanding this website, please let me know: chuck@coachrey.com I looked at www.volleyballforums.com/viewforum.php?f=16 and was not impressed. A total of three (3) posts in 2009 (March 21, 2009; May 8, 2009; May 10, 2009) means that spring volleyball, recruiting, play & coach movement. etc. does not seem to be discussed.
