The NCAA is constantly telling us that it aspires to higher purpose than "a job in the rest of the world". But I agree with you that a coach of a professional sports team shouldn't be faulted for leaving his coaching job to take a job with another professional sports team. I agree with both you and ladeda. I think one other aspect that makes it a bit easier to take is that he is moving over to the men's game. It might be tougher to swallow for the players and the university if the coach changed to a head coaching job for another women's team. Had it been to another coaching job for the women's team, it is easier to question the recruiting and what he said to get recruits and what he has done to get players to buy into the idea that Pacific can compete for a conference championship. That might hinder everything that was done if the coach leaves. But given the circumstances, it still makes it pretty clear that Wade believed in his Pacific team and just happened that this coaching job opened up. You Hawaii fans remind me of the parent who refuses to believe that their kid exhibits bad behavior and continues to make excuses for the kid's behavior....this whole thing is as simple as a glass of milk.....he left UOP for UH, not the wome's game for the men's game....this was a way to get the hell out and get back to Hawaii while he waits for Dave to retire, which all of you know won't be that far away....he now has 'head coaching experience' so that empty line of his resume is now no longer empty.....you take the men's job and wait for the one he really wants, which given Dave's age, and other personal factors, won't be more than a 2-3 more seasons! In the meantime UOP is left in the lurch!!

In the meantime UOP is left in the lurch!! Well, at least we know Wade isn't AFRAID to coach in the men's game, unlike another Big West coach who used to have alot of success but is now all washed up. This washed-up coach would NEVER be able to coach in the men's game because he wouldn't be able to exert his total mind control over his program and his athletes, and thus wouldn't be able to bolster his huge inflated ego (which, incidentally, is in stark contrast to his massively short stature). He couldn't be the alpha male coach on a men's team when he'd be a good foot-and-a-half shorter than everyone else in the gym. This coach knows he can only ever coach in the women's game, because his training methods are archaic and he spends too much time obsessing over his anal-retentive practice methods and endless repetitions of meanigless skill progressions. He knows that if he ever tried to coach a men's team that way, that the players would revolt. And if he tried to impose his Napoleon complex on a group of male athletes, he'd get his toupee slapped off in about 12 seconds, most probably by the 5'6" Libero.

Any other possibilities of who will replace Wade? The UOP team really has some good players coming back and will be working hard in the off season to welcome in the new coach. Coach Wade did what was best for his family and I congratulate him for that, but then I agree with others why he left so late in the season? How about Steve Loeswick from LSU?

but then I agree with others why he left so late in the season? Why blame Wade because it was late in the season he had no control over when Hawai`i posted the job . UOP was left in good shape, a lot better shape than it was in when he arrived.UOP now needs to be particular in who they select and pick someone who can continue the rebuilding.

I nominate Ladeda and Grandsonofbarcelonabob as the ASSITANT HEAD COACHES! ;D

How many returners does UOP have? I remember that UOP used to be very very good. As a player I went to there setters camp. There setters camp gave Stanfords setters camp a run for there money.
I guess that is in the past....what coach would really want to move to Stockton.. it's almost as bad as Fresno. LOL

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Mike Wilton announce his retirement before this past season? Wasn't it pretty much known that this was it for him? If so, it doesn't matter when the job was posted. People knew for quite some time.
