Okay okay, I'm still on a high from the USC Hawaii game. What's the FYI about Illinois? I hear Debruler is a force.

USC and Illinois are pretty equal in height and physicality - they clearly are the bigger team. But again, if Hawaii can out pass, serve, and defend Illinois, Hawaii wins.
They have to cut the errors though... way too many against USC.

DeBruler 4.5 kps, hitting .309
Bangert only 6'1' but leads the nation in blocking.
Solid defense
A number of people seem to think they're over rated but they keep winning.

I think whoever wins this regional semifinal (between Hawaii and Illinois)...is strong enough to make the Final Four, I don't think the Stanford-Michigan regional semi is as strong!

"if Hawaii can out pass, serve, and defend Illinois, Hawaii wins. " What insight. If anyone does that they'll win.
IMO they're fairly even. Illinois is a pretty steady team. All their loss's were to teams in the tourney and top 25. I would expect a close match.

Hope Kaufman abdominal strain heals by next week. She started the match well, but Shoji said that she wasn't able to get up as high as usual as the match went on. We'll need her at full strenght. USC started to serve well and Hawaii passing dropped off quite a bit in the 3rd and 4th set and Hawaii had to go left all the time. It was okay when Danielson was hitting left, but Cubi-Otineru and Ferrell couldn't cope with the big USC block. Just hope the passing is good in the Illinois match. Otherwise it will be the same thing—poor rotations that will be hard to get out of.

I definitely agree. Whoever wins the Hawaii-Illinois match (Hawaii looked better from the video I saw of both teams this weekend) should advance to the final four. Hawaii would have swept Stanford at Maples if they played tonight.

i think the first question we should be asking is whether K5 will try to televise this regional semi.
(i know the regional final is on espnu ... but i haven't seen anything about espnu airing the semis...)
