Didn't see that coming. Kinda' answers the questions about three players leaving.
I wonder if Karch will be interested in coaching there?

NOW.... L. Cooks departure makes sense. I guess that's a whole new thread - which came first the chicken or the egg. I'm inclined to believe it was the transfers that caused Andy to retire rather than Andy's retirement that caused the transfers. A younger coach with mouths to feed might welcome the challenge that was presented to Andy after the transfers. A older coach might say, "I'm outta here. I don't need this stress anymore."

I can't see UCLA so bush league as to not renew his contract. Maybe the contract renewal gave him cause to re-evaluate his career and decide to call it.
One name that popped into my head is Paula Weishoff.
Head coaching experience. Worked as an assistant at a Pac 10 school down the road. Great resume as a coach and as a player.

Umm, didn't she leave USC so she doesn't want to travel far from her home?

I can't believe Bancahowski retired before his college coach: Al Scates!! Amen to that! What about the possibility of a J. Cook trading schools with his daughter, she's now at NU, he heads to Westwood? Just a wild idea...

Can someone tell me what coaching experience Karch has other than the last few months with the National Team, and BTW, how did he get that job? I know, great player, but how does that qualify him to coach?
Patti Bright, Elaine Michaelis, Chuck Erbe, Marilyn McReavy, Dixie Grimmett, (I know I'm forgetting some legends) and now Andy. Dave Shoji and Kathy Gregory - last of the group. Might have to break out my AIAW Natl. Championship programs and reminisce.

Makes sense, but I think she really likes being an assistant and did not enjoy her 1 year interim experience as HC.
