Has anyone tried the Kobe 7s for VB? I've heard mixed things about them (from BB players) and wanted to know if anyone's used them for vb? I love the 5s and 6s.

Yeah, someone said they're a bit clunkier and also the interior part is a bit uncomfortable. Would like to have someone give me feedback for a VB movement patterns before I drop $200 on shoes.... I might as well get another pair of 6s then...

I got both the 6s and the 7s. The 6s are better overall. The guess the 7s would be better for bigger guys who need alot of foot support.

I just bought Mizuno Tornado 7 for $124 size 10 from eBay. They feel very light and offer good grip. Was wondering as to what are mids and 3/4?

If you liked the Kobe V's the Nike Hyperdunk 2011 lows are essentially the same shoe, a little lighter though and a lot cheaper.

I've heard too that Kobe 7s are no good. Despite being a few ounces heavier, I can't see why they're so bad...anybody else who has both want to chime in with first hand experience? I play in Kobe 6s (they rock) or Kobe 5s/Tornado 4s. I've tried Crazy Lights but didn't care much for them.

I definitely prefer Mizuno shoes for volleyball, they are one of the only companies that make sneakers specifically for volleyball and I really love that. They also have great performance and I highly recommend them. A great vendor of these sneakers is Baseball Bargains. Although, they are a baseball store, they still are one of the only places around that I could find volleyball shoes. Here's a link to their website, www.baseballbargains.com/product-category/footwear/

I'm extremely uneducated when it comes to shoes. I did a quick search of Kobe shoes and they've already moved several generations past the Kobe 5s and 6s. If someone wanted to purchase a pair, does Nike still manufacture those shoes or would they have to find a distributor with lots of old stock? Nike hasn't sold the Kobe 5-6 in a long time, and their models have surpassed them in terms of quality. The Kobe 9 is deemed their best shoe in terms of their traction and has great cushion. Models afterward are good as well, the 11 EM is supposedly better than the 9. Not trying to be a Nike spokesperson, just sharing what I know. Way to bring this thread back from the dead.

I think some of it is market-driven as well. High top and 3/4 volleyball shoes were popular in the late 80's and early 90's. Then the rise of products like Active Ankle and other ankle support pieces may have cut into the market for volleyball shoes that supported the ankles like high tops and 3/4 top shoes. Interestingly, I watched the USA Men NORCECA tourney on TV today, and the guys were all wearing different shoes. I guess Mizuno doesn't require the team wear their sponsor brand shoes, or USA Volleyball didn't negotiate it that way. But even with the guys wearing their own shoes, none of them were wearing high top or 3/4 top shoes. And few, if any, wore ankle support braces either. I guess the philosophy on what is right or wrong in terms of support-type equipment comes and goes. 10-15 years ago it was all about ankle support. After wearing ASICS for years and Mizuno and suffering microfractures, Plantar Fasceitus, and knee issues my podiatrist informed me that both ASICS and Mizuno were designed for the Asian market and for players 150 or less in weight. They are not going to work for a 200 lb. + player. I went to Jordans CP III and others and have not had a single issue since. Worked for me and by the way my wife a marathoner switched from Asics to Saucony and has had a similar experience.

I feel like high-tops restriction of the ankle negatively impacts certain passing movements.
Oppo's and middles, go for it.

So I went back to basketball shoes for vball. And I do not weigh less than 150! Lol
