If she didnt end up at Tx, it was because Tx didnt want her.

How many scholarships does Texas have available?
We graduate Adams, Kocher, Roberson and Yogi (unless Yogi gets a redshirt - though I've heard rumors that she may be done for good). Is that 4? Or maybe Yogi wasn't on scholarship. Although, coming from Hawaii would make me think that she was (but that's just conjecture). Roberson might actually not be on scholarship, but who knows.
Assuming three (just for the sake of argument), it would seem with McCage and Dalton, we have one available. Will Jerritt be able to snag Prieto?

But Nicole Dalton has committed instead. Both seem to be similar players in that they are tall OHs who can also set the ball. Does that mean Nicole Dalton will be setting for Texas, as well as hitting? Did she do any setting for her school or club team. I know Malloy did.

I'm sure Florida offered Burgess, as did pretty much every other program in the country. They have a bunch of scholarships for 2012 so that's definitely not the issue. Burgess goes to a really top-notch private school and is reportedly very near the top of her class. It seems natural that she'd want to go to Stanford. It also seems that Bugg is a lock if she gets in. I'm not sure about scholarship counts for Stanford though. I know Bai didn't get one as a freshman but I'm not sure if she'll be on one for the remainder of her time at Stanford. If Howard also commits, I would guess she is not.
Dalton is not going to be setting for Texas. Not sure about Malloy. I've seen her play a few times and she looks very comfortable hitting on the right. Big, strong girl. I don't know if she's being groomed to play setter but Iowa State really needs someone who can play rightside.

Hannah Allison and who else for 2012?

They have a commitment from Chloe Collins, a 5'7" setter for 2013. She'll be on scholarship.

sary and bugg are probably the 2 best setters in this class Hands down pookele! Sary is the best setter/player in this class, she is an amazing setter who hasn't got as much press as she deserves.

Who will that second setter be for 2012? Well we may not get another until 2013. We have several players who "could" do the setter thing if injury struck. Palmer, I think, has some experience setting. And then if Dalton had even a little, it might be enough to make Jerritt less nervous about riding Allison.

Stanford only has one setter next year, Cal had only Lloyd a few years ago, for two years, I believe. Those are the major programs I know. USC only had Bateman this year, also. Hard to get somebody to come in who knows they're going to sit for a year or two, at least.

I didn't know that , but seems like a scary thought with injuries and all not to have a defined backup setter. What would have Texas done if they didn't have Kocher when Allison was injured or vice versa.

And then if Dalton had even a little, it might be enough to make Jerritt less nervous about riding Allison. Dalton may not be a pure setter, but has the ability to set. According to the article below, Dalton's team won the state title this year with her moving from setter to outside hitter to help with ball control. One reason for Chaparral’s success this year was a change in the lineup and in positions. Nicole Dalton, who was the team’s stud setter, was moved to the back row to help the team’s passing. Ellis said they already knew the Wolverines were going to be great hitters and blockers, so the focus was on defense and ball control.coloradocommunitynewspapers.com/articles/2010/11/20/parker_chronicle/sports/web_spts_vbl_chap_pk.txt Her situation sounds reminiscent of Ashley Engle... great all-around player who was moved to another position for the betterment of the team. If Texas had consistent passing OHs during her tenure, we might have seen Engle develop into a dominant setter during her collegiate years. Instead, she's having to hone her setting skills professionally, which is an accomplishment in itself. Dalton's recruitment allows Elliot to continue running the 6-2, whether he just subs her in for the back-row or allows her to play all the way around as a backrow setter/frontrow attacker like Engle.

Dalton must be pretty highly-regarded to win Colorado's Gatorade POY as a junior; the state produces some great volleyball players each year.

Inky Ajanaku is from Oklahoma. Tulsa, I believe. She is the best in the country. I would assume everyone is recruiting her. Okay, Inky just added 2 Stanford players to her facebook. LOL Seriously though, I don't see any reason (other than insufficient # of scholies) why Stanford will not recruit a middle for 2012. Assuming C. Browne stays healthy, then Stanford will have 3 MBs (C. Wopat and JWalk) which will not be enough. Adding Ajanaku would be awesome. Plus Howard, Burgess and Bugg. Hahaha! ;D
