First of all, let me say that Bill is a terrible coach! Supposedly he trained Brandon Talifaro (ya maybe once for one day) and that is his claim to fame. So he illegally recruited kids from other clubs when he was at LAAC and they were successful for two years. And now he has the USC job! Wow! We all know that Brad coached that USC team, not Bill. Bill would always ask John Hawks, when he was there, to always speak up in timeouts, and team meetings because Bill had nothing to say. He's not even a high profile coach. I think it's shaddy that he's still there and Brad's not.

Coaching, smoaching. Who gives a crap what USC did or didn't do and whether it was Fergie's fault or his assistants?
What I really wanna know is the whole Fergie pimping out Prince Andrew thing for 700k and getting busted by the reporter thing.

Bill is not a bad coach. 85% if coaching is getting the right kids in there in the first place. He has done very well in that regard. No name calling, it is just that earning 25K a year as an assistant or 2nd assistant does not go very far in LA. Chuck is a great guy who decided to return to Florida. No issues. With low salaries in the men's coaching ranks, you are going to see a great deal of turnover. The only assistant that has been around for a long time is Rofer at UCLA.

plus what? $5K or more for coaching at the local juniors boy's club, in this case SCVC.
And asst coaches generally get $10K $15K more? from running the USC summer mvbcamps.
And any HP coaching during summers, holidays....more?.... Total annual income gets up there a bit more.

USC Press Releasewww.usctrojans.com/sports/m-volley/spec-rel/060110aab.htmlJ.J. RILEY NAMED USC ASSISTANT MEN’S VOLLEYBALL COACH LOS ANGELES-J.J. Riley, formerly an All-American at Pepperdine and then a Waves assistant coach, has been named an assistant coach with the USC men’s volleyball team, Trojan head coach Bill Ferguson announced today (June 1). “I’ve known J.J. since he played for me in club volleyball and right away I spotted his potential to be an outstanding coach one day,” said Ferguson. “He has a great volleyball mind and a phenomenal work ethic. He’s ‘been there and done that’ as both a player and a coach. He’ll be an unbelievable resource for our players. He’ll spend a lot of time with our setters and his experience coaching that position will be invaluable.” Riley, 34, was an assistant with both the Pepperdine men’s program in 2000 and again in 2010 and the Waves’ women’s team for 4 years (2000-03). In 2000, the Pepperdine men advanced to the NCAA Final Four. The 2010 Pepperdine men were third nationally in hitting percentage and assists, fifth in kill average and sixth in block average, while All-American first team setter Kasey Crider led the nation in assists. The 2002 Pepperdine women advanced to the NCAA regional final, a school best. Before returning to Pepperdine in 2010, Riley coached high school and club volleyball and also ran a personal training business (Central Oregon Plyometrics) in Bend (Ore.). He founded the Oregon Volleyball Academy, where he directed 16 teams and was head coach of the 18-1 team. He also served as the girls’ varsity head coach at Summit High in Bend (Ore.) for 3 years, helping the team to its first-ever state tournament appearance and a sixth-place finish in 2006. He also was a coach with the Oregon Suns and Sports Shack club programs. He is an NESTA certified strength and conditioning coach and is SAQ certified. Riley was a setter at Pepperdine from 1995 to 1999, earning All-American second team honors in 1998 when the Waves won the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title and reached the NCAA championship match. He set a since-broken Pepperdine career record for assists (2,788). He earned his bachelor’s degree in teaching/coaching with an emphasis in sports medicine from Pepperdine in 1999. He was an all-state player at Punahou High in Honolulu (Hi.), helping the team to a pair of state crowns. He also won gold, silver and bronze medals at the Junior Olympics in club volleyball. He was born July 6, 1975. His wife, Emily, is a former Pepperdine volleyball player (her maiden name is Rothman).
