just saw that Stevens upset Baruch in 5 last night...from box, Kowalski was sharp with 20 kills hitting .450+ but Stevens held Pablo to a negative %! I have seen Baruch play, with and without Kowalski and was very impressed, especially with Oliveira, so how good is Stevens holding him to negative and winning? Some hitters hitting the wall a little or looking past to NECVAs?

I have been stuck in NECVA playoff mode and just saw that Springfield defeated Juniata in 5 last night.
From their site:
The Springfield College men's volleyball took the next step towards advancing to the 2011 Molten Division III National Championship by grinding out a five-set victory over rival Juniata on Friday evening in Blake Arena. The Pride took the match by the scores of 25-19, 25-19, 19-25, 19-25, 19-17.
Springfield improves to 13-12 on the year, while the fifth-ranked Eagles drop to 15-11. The victory sets up a showdown with the top two teams in the country next Wednesday when second-ranked Springfield will travel to take on top-ranked NYU. If Springfield is able to defeat the Violets, they will clinch a bid into the Molten Championship.

In the event Springfield wins, they get the bid. If NYU wins then it is a 3 way tie (everyone would be 2-2) so it would go down to games won. So here is a little break down.
Every teams games won per match....
Juniata- NYU- 3, NYU-3, SC-0, SC-2..... Final Total- 8.
NYU- Juniata-2, Juniata-0, Springfield 3, Springfield- ?......Total to date- 5, Max-8.
Springfield- Juniata- 3, NYU- 2, Juniata- 3, NYU- ?......Total to date-8, Max-11
THIS MEANS that all Springfield has to do is take 1 set from NYU and they earn the Final 4 bid, but they obvoiously want the win in order to lock up the number 1 seed.
Hopfully this breakdown helped clear up any confussion!

and if nyu manages to sweep springfield (dam near impossible with what is on the line for these kids) then I believe it comes down to points.

Hopefully this breakdown helped clear up any confusion! The Carthage College men's volleyball team (22-10, 8-0 Midwest-III Volleyball Conference), ranked fourth in the March 29 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, received a berth in the Friday-Saturday, April 15-16 Molten Championship at Nazareth College's Robert A. Kidera Gym in Rochester, N.Y. Carthage, the Midwest/West Region at-large team, joins Nazareth (29-3) and North East Collegiate Volleyball Association tournament runner-up Baruch College (34-14) in the four-team field. Nazareth won the NECVA tournament title. [glow=red,2,300]The fourth team will be the winner of an April 6 Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association match between Springfield College (13-13) and New York University (17-7) in New York, N.Y. [/glow] Not sure this statement is 100% true but we all know that the 4th member will be a representative of the EIVA. This is Carthage's fourth appearance in the Molten Championship. Both the 2005 and 2007 Red Men teams finished second in the event, and the 2010 squad finished third at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis. The Molten Championship will come to an end after this year's event, as the NCAA will launch a Division III Men's Volleyball Championship in 2012.

The NECVA thread is all up in arms about NECVA POY. So I possed the question of who is in line for National POY and Freshman POY if they even have that award?
Any thoughts?

that depends on if you will look at padded stats vs weak opponents or lower stats vs better teams.

One kid that I think definitely deserves some consideration is Bravo from SC putting up almost 3.5 kpg and .70 bpg. Hitting percentage is down a bit but were talking about a kid that put up 15 kills against Penn State, definitely a top level baller. Not saying he's the front runner but certainly someone worthy of mention
