"Thunder Road" is one of my favorites. I had never heard of it until I got the Born to Run album. It was the first track and it was mesmerizing. I thought, why haven't I heard of it? I liked it more than any other song in that album -- and that album is a pretty good album. One of my favorite parts was: "...Show a little faith there's magic in the night You ain't a beauty but hey you're alright Oh and that's alright with me..." The section I admire so much is the very same section sung back to Springsteen by the audience in this concert. Holy crap!

Just recently, the Love Boat theme song has been playing in my mind because of the Corona Virus cases on the Princess Cruises.
I have twisted the lyrics and arrived at this:
Love, exciting and new Come aboard. we're infecting you.
This is shameful behavior on my part and I should probably be quarantined from posting for (say) 14 days.

Newfound appreciation for Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks particularly. This song brings me close to tears, every time.
As for newer tunes, love the Scissor Sisters, although this is not-so-new:
This one isn't too new but it's good. The video is well done and the tune is great driving cross country music:
My mental youth shows with this one:

Top 5 TV show theme music: 1. Mary Tyler Moore Show 2. The Love Boat 3. Hawaii Five-0 4. Mission Impossible 5. Mannix Mannix is one that doesn't get a lot of attention but I think it's absolutely fantastic. I like Hawaii Five-O and Mission Impossible but prefer Friends, Happy Days, The Monkees, The Munsters, and Batman, to name a few, over the others in your list. I guess I generally favor faster songs for TV themes, though I do like a few slower ones like M*A*S*H and Gilmore Girls.

Petula Clark is a favorite of mine. (Although I suppose that should be "a favourite".)

I have recently become an Eminem fan. A friend of mine said she had recently renewed her love of his music and it had me intrigued as her and I have very similar musical tastes. So one night I listened to a mix of Eminem's music and I came away with a much greater appreciation for his skill as a writer and performer. You don't have to like the style or the lyrics, but the talent is undeniable. This is a track off of his latest CD and will, IMO win multiple awards. It'very real and pertinent subject matter.

Yeah, he's pretty good. One thing about him: he has always seemed pretty open in his songs. Lots of his early songs were basically about how he was a punk jerk, but had some self-awareness of it. (In particular, his songs about his "evil twin" Slim Shady.) He seems to have gotten a little more reflective and mature as he has aged, which is pretty much the normal course of events.

I've always thought the Mission Impossible theme was one of the very best.

Watching some Japanese anime, some of them have really nice music to accompanied it. Like this piece from the animation, "Your Name", a sci-fi romance film, the highest grossing Japanese animated flick ever, the score (composed by Japanese rock band Radwimps) is uplifting and also touching and moving at the same time, highly recommended: This reminded me of The Devil Went Down to Georgia ...
