I always thought recruits were asked to wait for a "class" announcement and not to announce autonomously. Could it be that one or more girls have been admitted but haven't committed yet? If there is a fifth recruit that could be holding up an announcement. That's what I heard as well. Admissions doesn't process them all at the same time.

If that is the case, then we may be waiting for a little while. I have heard they are waiting for Junior grades before admitting one of the mentioned athletes.

Another SCVA day. Halland McKenna was playing OH for her Laguna Beach team. She was pounding the ball. Halland was running Xs, hitting from the middle, and having all kinds of fun. It is unfortunate she will not see the front row at Stanford. They should have a DI division for players under 6' tall. So many liberos who started in the sport early started as OHs and then realized somewhere along the way they were not going to be tall enough. Payton Chang was setting a 5-1 for Laguna Beach. When things are going well Chang plays with some swagger.
A TStreet parent told me she expects Plummer to commit to Stanford; didn't know if she had been admitted yet. That's just the word of a parent so don't hold me to it.
Milica Mirkovic (2016?) was in the TStreet hitting line in warm-ups so she must be close to playing. Has Mirkovic committed yet? Someone said she took an official visit to Stanford. I doubt she goes to Stanford unless it is on a sand scholarship to play with Plummer. More likely Mirkovic ends up at a SoCal school.

I have no idea of the transfer rule for WVB within the pac 12 but if Schmidt is leaving USC I'd love her at Stanford. I have no clue if she applied from HS.
Love Lanier too of course
If we give 5 this year that leaves 1 for 2017.

Why isn't McGeehee listed on the roster? I just noticed it today. I suppose I could have asked around yesterday at the mens championship but, alas, didn't see it until now. BTW, the men's championship was INCREDIBLE!!! and I'm usually not a big fan of the mens game (unless I'm playing of course).

She retired from volleyball and is focused full-time on getting a degree. There were some posts about it 30/40 pages ago.

The women's team spent all day yesterday scrimmaging northern California teams at USF. They only had two middles, so Inky and Merete played all the time. They ran a 6-2 with Bugg and Humphreys setting, and Vanjak and Brown at Opp, Burgess and Howard at OH. Benjamin stayed in at libero and was the serve receive target all day. Kennedy played some back row. Clearly, all the northern Cal teams are just adjusting to being back in the gym after the sand season, and setter/hitter connections aren't there yet. But serve receive and defense is a big question mark for Stanford at this point. They dropped both sets to Santa Clara against the SCU starters and the bench. They had a big win and a 2 point win over USF, who had a total of 8 bodies suited up. They were down against Sac State when I looked. I realize it's just Spring, but I surely would have thought Stanford would have dominated this scrimmage.

Stanford has not publicized its spring schedule. I see SJSU says they are playing Stanford on Tuesday. Not clear where.

Thanks for the report kv. 6-2 is interesting. It seems unlikely there would be a 6-2 this season based on 33 wins last season with Bugg setting a 5-1. Maybe it was a chance for Humphreys and Brown to get playing time although they could have gotten time with a 5-1. What about Vanjak on the right this season in a backup role or more?
Stanford's poor showing doesn't bother me at all. I have seen some teams play dreadful in spring with no indication what they do in September. Running a 6-2 the first time since Bugg took over combined with getting reacquainted to moving on wood floors, I expect a fair amount of bad connections.
Anyone hear who the next volunteer coach will be? Isn't it a coveted position as most volunteer assistants go on to paying jobs.

I'm sure the 6-2 was just to get Humphreys and more hitters time on the court. Part of the time they ran a 5-1 with Bugg. When Vanjak connects at the right time, she can hit a really sharp angle. The biggest concern was that Stanford (primarily Benjamin) were aced many times and really struggled on defense.
