Saw Kevin Hambly at Red Rock Rave yesterday watching TAV. Guessed he was watching Leila Smith, who looked like a phenomenal MB and is listed on TAV’s roster as uncommitted. Was surprised to see on here Annabelle Smith from the same TAV team listed as a likely Stanford prospect since she didn’t stand out nearly as much but maybe she’s a better fit for what they need. He happened to catch the game when they got upset by Rage from Sacramento who had already lost a couple matches that day. 😬 Maybe it was just an off day for Smith.

Smith looks distinctly better than A. Smith in the matches I've watched. A. Smith sometimes isn't even playing (replaced with Okammor, the Florida recruit).

In the matches I saw this weekend, both Smiths were starters and Okammor got playing time in the second set if they had blown out their opponent in the first. Hambly at their court again today.

Speaking of TAV- that final with coast was some great volleyball. Both teams showcased some solid talent at the net. I wonder if Ndaiye and Stanford were a thing at some point. She’s also a really good one.

Smith was further along than L. Smith. Leila seems like o forsure have more potential because of her size and visible athleticism. Annabelle just seems more fluid and lower error and just overall more consistent and corntrolled. With Campbell, vicini, and both smiths on the roster in 2020 Stanford MBs will be the deepest in the country by far.

Speaking of the future....Been wondering about the future status of Fidelak? I remember her recruitment; plus, I saw a VERY tiny sample size of her first action: during the match in Serbia this past Summer (where I was MOST impressed by Holly Campbell - and stated so here - without her, no NC title, guys). Anyway, Mackenzie saw action in only four sets, spread over three matches, during which time she scored 9 points: with 8 Ks (2.0 @ set) on 18 attempts, with 2 AEs, for a .333 percentage. Being an OPP, I am wondering if she is in Kevin's "mix" after Fitz graduates in '20?

Both are very good! So is L. Smith for sure Stanford bound?

We will know in 2 months but everyone, even 17s club players, are saying she’s going to Stanford. Also just realized Stanford will have 3 middles from Texas out of 4 rostered middles in 2020. Winder how Elliot feels about Stanford starting to pick up his coveted tav girls.

I really don't follow recruiting or high school volleyball to any extent, but it has struck me over the years that Texas is a major breeding ground for middles. Elliot usually seems able to fill the position despite the number who leave the state.

Until Leilah, Annabelle, and Elena publicly commit, I'll hold my reservations until then. I still have PTSD from the Nuneviller thing. Not that I have any inside info on what happened there, but I thought consensus around these parts was she was going to Stanford until she publicly committed to Oregon late May. I was salivating at the thought of a Hentz-Nuneviller combo manning the backrow for 2 years together.

I'm sure she's "in the mix" but in 2020, it makes a lot of sense to have Kipp play on the right and have Baird/McClure on the left. Although, Kipp may end up on the left so it's certainly a possibility.

In 2020, kipp could hit the left with McClure, fidelak on the right, she could hit the the left with Baird, fidelak on the right, or she could hit right with McClure and Baird on the left. For fidelak to play in 2020 it will depend on how kipp performs on the left, and if Baird has a good showing on the left and can beat out McClure (hypothetically) then fidelak will have the right. Kipp seems to me as the only real challenger for that spot, but I only think they’d move her if Baird and McClure will playing very well on the left. I don’t see Baird hitting right , her arm swing isn’t suited for the right at all. Fidelak has Avery good chance to take it in 2020. Maybe one of the 4 extremely good middles on the roster that year will be moved to the right? Smith or vicini are both very fluid and can take swing mis in the pins. There are about 10 very possible front row lineups for 2020 if the recruits play up to what they are said to be capable of.

My main focus & intention with my question is that she seemed totally overlooked this past year. She IS a lefty; hence, we will see!

Is oglivie 2021? I always thought she was 2020. Maybe she’s young? I watched her when we played USA and she was on the top team with all girls from the 2021 class. But I thought people on here say she’s 2020. So I guess she’s young for her grade or she’s actually a 2021 and I’m making this up.
