Honestly I think you redshirt all the incoming Freshmen and slot in Gates. That’ll be a lot of turnover for 2020

Excerpts from a Bruin fan on a UCLA sports message board:
"Stanford is Gates' dream school. She was the last of the 2016 class to commit to UCLA because she was waiting for an offer from Stanford but Stanford wanted Fitz and got her.
I know Stanford has never accepted transfer but will not be surprised if this is the first."
Statement about Stanford WVB program never accepting an undergraduate transfer is correct. But with Gates going to grad school this is not exactly a transfer.
When Amanda Gil decided to transfer out of UCLA the first team she approached was Stanford. She was good friends with Rachel Williams and had been coached by Stanford’s assistant coach at her Vision club team. Dunning told Gil he would like to have her on the team but the WVB policy was no transfers.

Hey, not a bad entering class. I figure they could beat most teams in the country next year: Gates and Vicini in the middle, Baird and Berty on the left, Kipp OPP, and Xu setting. Now, if somebody can play backrow, this team is awesome! Imagine what the practices will be next year. BTW, redshirt, meh. Fogettaboutit!

That was what I said on the last page *LOL* except for the back row players. They can all go 6 rotations and learn to play defense even for the middles

Honestly I think you redshirt all the incoming Freshmen and slot in Gates. +1 It’s not like the coach has to formally decide to redshirt any of them ... By the end of the season, if anyone of them never made it on the court, they retain 4 years of eligibility.

I wish stanford redshirted more bench players than they do, specifically fidelak. I think she played for like 10 points maybe less this season? She was a top 20 recruit that will probably be very good down the road, but a whole year of eligibility was thrown out for a couple points. Maybe she didn’t want to be redshirted ?

I wonder how Stanford’s scholarships are working with only graduating one starter, and losing 4 players. Bowen was a walk on, I don’t think Chang was on a full ride, maybe partial scholarship but she was never really recruited to start, alade was possible on partial, she was very good her last 2 seasons but wasn’t highly recruited. So I guess my question is how do they have room for 6 new players, 5 of which are very likely to be on full scholarship ( the 4 top 10 and gates). Berty could also have some because she is still pretty good. I know Plummer isn’t on scholarship, she is getting her college paid for by a family friend or someone of that matter. So I assume fitz, Gray, hentz, Campbell, and the 4 top 10 recruits would be on full rides ...

Stanford was/is her dream school, and she got into grad school there of her own accord. May have just been a happy coincidence to have her join the team

I might be missing something, but what spot would Vicini take? Esp with addition of Gates?

WVB is a full scholarship sport. No partial athletic scholarships Plummer is on a wvb scholarship

Not saying she would take any spots, but if Fitz stays opp, I would assume that she will be third on the depth chart behind Campbell and Gates. Might not hurt to give her some experience. Besides, with Leilah and Annabelle Smith rumored to be Stanford bound and potentially Sam Francis, I’m not sure how useful it would be to redshirt Vicini.

WVB is a full scholarship sport. No partial athletic scholarships Plummer is on a wvb scholarship I heard from a VERY viable source that her tuition is being paid for not by the university.
