I don't doubt that Miner wanted Stanford and that it was mutual, I just never thought it was a good fit. Xu is too good to sit her junior and senior years and Miner at 5'11" is not the prototypical 6'5" Stanford RS blocker. It isn't clear that Miner has a place to play her first two years, but she is too good to sit. That said, why Minnesota? Seems like a worse fit, unless they have already quietly discarded their highly hyped 6'3" 2020 setter? Quite a few on the Minnesota thread have questioned if Shaffmaster is really the setter of the future. Having seen her only once myself, I thought she was good but not outstanding; however, that was only one match. Miner could fit well with the Gophers. I wish her well wherever she ends up.

I still have miner at Stanford, I don’t want people to get the wrong idea that she IS going to not end up at Stanford. Her friends all say she’s going to Stanford for sure so I woulfnt expect a different school, who knows..

Why does anyone bother responding to him? His "information" has been marginal at best and seems to be mostly gleaned from Instagram postings and pretending to know people. Just not worth it.

Last thing on this topic.
I feel like it is unfair to use “stanfordvb” as a username when in fact you don’t represent Stanford volleyball and isn’t connected in anyway to the program - apart from following KP, Kipp and etc.
Things like “there’s a 2021 that might decommit because of the talent ahead of her” - it’s just unfair for the player. I certainly feel bad for Kami Miner (and her family) because things like these are meant to be private.

The thing is Miner is not even committed and no amount of “she’s been telling me, everyone, etc.” will change that. She’s young and is considering her options while uncommitted. I totally respect that

Will be interesting to see how she develops in that area... not sure how good NorCal will be in developing that.

I didn’t release miners name as the recruit... someone else did you can go see for yourselves. I am not to blame for her name being on this because I refused to release it.

It's funny that the "also" sentence is the most important in this analysis. It's a free country, you are allowed to be wrong. It is a cart and horse argument, because it all comes together as a package. You never have to actually choose one or the other. What we do know, is that the package (extra subs for a ds, better back row defense and setting consistency) is not worth enough to run a 5'5" setter through the front row. Sorry, all I got was "blah, blah, blah." Maybe I missed a "blah." Do I need to spell it out? The most important reason for running a 5-1 is consistency in setting. I guess you could add that most teams have one setter who is clearly better than the others, but that's just a factor in consistency. I'm also sorry about missing both the cart and the horse.

Seems like a worse fit, unless they have already quietly discarded their highly hyped 6'3" 2020 setter? I also don't see the "fit" for Minnesota. They also have a very good setter coming in 2021 as well. The reality is that most of the top programs are relatively set at setter for the next 5 years. Miner IS good, but she is a physical ceiling player, there are players that can run a better offense than her, for sure. She's also not likely to hit RS at Minnesota given their upcoming recruits. To be frank, she should just stay home and go to USC or UCLA if playing time is her concern.
