Ok, then Stanford sweeps Nebraska in the 2018 Championship if Kipp is playing the front row subbing in for McClure.

Maybe you're right. McClure's a tough case- she's the very definition of earning a position; fans love her, and I've no doubt coaches and teammates do too. Still, she came to Stanford knowing the level of competition was likely to be outlandish. For me (not that I have any say in it), it's going to take more than some videos of club matches to knock her out of the position even for 3 rotations. It could certainly happen, but if she's worked as effectively this off season as last it won't be easy.

Thx. I think that pretty much rounds out Stanford's preseason schedule which follows ... @ College of Charleston, Fri Aug 30 Michigan St, Sat Aug 31 (neutral @ College of Charleston) @ Florida, Wed Sept 4 Texas, Sat Sept 7 @ Penn St, Fri Sept 13 Minnesota, Sat Sept 14 (neutral @ Penn St) @ Nebraska, Wed Sept 18 BYU. Sat Sept 21 I suppose there is a possibility of another match on Sept 20 or 22 @ home or perhaps another team in the Southeast on (say) Sunday Sept 1 or Monday Sept 2, but suffice to say, other than CoC, this schedule has plenty of meat on the bone.

This is a crazy non-conference schedule. I guess since the quality of PAC-12 opponents is slowly getting worse, Hambly is making sure they get tough competition early.

Sure the Pac12 is as dominant as it used to be but it still gets over half its conference in the tournament every year.

As a 55+ year P-12 guy (was the Pacific Coast Conf. when I began following), I can definitely assert that in Women's VB, what with the re-emergence of Stanford as a perennial power - and some chaotic occurrences at other schools (see Haley, Moore, M. McShane et al) - the competitive level of the rest of the Pac-12 is reduced.

I'm just saying it wasn't nearly as dominant last season as it was even three years ago. UCLA, Washington, Utah, and Arizona have all dropped off a fair bit in my opinion.

Is there really an argument that the PAC isn't as strong as it used to be? Last year, I predicted that Stanford would lose two or three matches in conference. Instead The Card swept, partly because they were just plain good, but mostly because the rest of the conference was not. I don't see any reasons to expect better this year.

Washington had a brand new team but still made the round of 16. Theyll be much better as well as Utah IMO

I'd have to go team by team to compare, but right now I'm thinking the Pac-12 as a whole will be slightly better. But Stanford is clearly the 800 pound gorilla in the conference, and they are loaded with what on paper is one of the most talented rosters in Women's collegiate volleyball history.

I know there was previous talk ab Annabelle smith (2020 MB committ from TAV) being injured and not playing as much in club. I saw video from the west coast championships, where she did not play in the final. However, she was playing in pool play... the middle playing instead of her is a Florida committ, so there is a hace she could just be being outplayed as of right now. Is she actually injured or was that speculation?

Kinda off-topic, kind of not: Mackenzie Little won the women's javelin at the NCAAs (195' 0" - beat her nearest competitor by 10 feet); Jenna came in 4th (179' 9")! Congratulations.
